the switch has a strobe function, not sure if it dims i haven't played too much with it. and yes you can turn it on at any time. I think it works good has about 30 ft range right now i haven't played with the antenna wire yet but it could probably be made to have a greater range. I found this a much more appealing solution than having to hack up my interior or mess with tapping into other wires to get it to turn on and off

Very nice. Let us know if it does dim and how well it works. Could be a cool thing to have if you need some extra light and don't feel like stepping in the truck to activate a light. Especially if you can extend the range. Keep us posted on how well it works. Will certainly help out others in the future who don't want to run more wires than absolutely necessary.

Looked through the whole thread. Seems as though I remember more install pics being in here. For the GMC guys..... How close is the bar installed behind the grill? Any odd shadows?

Like my old truck, I want to paint my miroirs and my Onstar antenna. For the light, I have 2 options, 40" behind the grille or 52" curved bar on the roof + my 19" led bar + my HID fog light. I don't made my choice.

Anyone know if warranty would be affected by installing a LED bar or fog lights? It seems like something they'd try to use to get out of doing stuff on warranty.

If it has something to do directly related to the lights such as if you change the dogs and something happens to the fog light system then they can deny you service, but if something happens like your transmission drops out or a spark plug breaks, then they can really deny you service. Also if they do try to deny you service for something that has something has nothing to do with the lights, then you could always call upon the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (Im pretty sure that's the name of it)

What make is that bar Todd? Any specs? Looks like a spot configured beam for high speed driving?

Not that my comment has anything to do with what you said about the LED's but I saw your location and I used to live in Sierra Vista. It's good to see someone from where I used to live. I like what you've done with the exhaust on your truck too.

I go down to SV several times a year from about Dec to Feb for quail. I took my wife down there to see if she'd go for retiring to that area. No dice. I really like the area in the winter.
