Opinion on best tires?

Ok first off I own the 2014 AT the goodyears that come on the truck are the Goodyear SR-As and for what you said you want , quite & smooth ride , those tires are exactly what you want. That is why gm put them on that truck. I have been a sales manager for Goodyear tire store for 3 yrs , that tire although isn't the best tire by any means , is a good riding tire and that's all gm cares about. For you 95% hwy 5% off road that tire can handle it.

I would take the Goodyear SR-A over the LS-2 anyday. Me personally I don't like the SR-A i swapped mine out with a customers takeoffs that had a lot life left, customer didn't like his Bridgestone dueler H/Ls , sold him some goodyear wrangler SR-As & swapped mine out with his takeoffs, he only had 7000 miles on them , they are a better all season truck tire of the 2 IMO . Go to tire rack and read the reviews. Do some research. Michelin & Goodyear both make good tires, and I'm not by any means pushing goodyears they have a lot of tires I don't like. Cooper is another brand that maks good tires and they ride every bit as nice as Michelins . Ask yourself how much you have to spend on tires after you buy the truck, you can get a new set of coopers for 675$ and they rid just as smooth and quite as Michelins, or you can pay between 850 - 1000 for the Michelins, that's even at about 215$ a tire for Michelin, includes tax. Just things to think about . Every can say tires are great but no one tells you the price because there expensive tires. Think about it and research it.

How's the road noise on highway driving say going 65 to 85 mph?

On the SR-As I can honestly say they where a nice ride quite too, but for my personal preference the dueler better fits my driving 85%hwy 15% off road they have better duralbilty when it comes to wet & snow traction too being that in in nebraska. Average snowfall if 36-40 inches from jan- march, the Bridgestones work better for me. 95% of tire purchase is personal preference, the other 5% is research. The SR-A is a decent tire for all around quite ride at all speed, if it's not the u usually have a balance problem or a chopping issue from tires being outta alignment.

If it helps when I go to purchase my new set I'm going with the new Goodyear wangler with Kevlar. It's a new tire put out this year its different then the Goodyear wangler silent armor, it also has Kevlar, the new Goodyear is geared for more allseason and is certified mountian & snow . That's not a easy accomplishment for tires. Goodyear only has 2 tires certified mountain & snow, & that's the new wangler with Kevlar and the silent Armor , the silent armor is more of a all terrain tire . We did a ride-n-drive with them, they where size 275/55-20 and 275/65-18. The 2 most common light truck sizes comming out. They rode well, they where stiff and very responsive, but I think that is because of the Kevlar weave in the side wall , it was a quite tire , one thing i really like about them too is the sidewall sticks out about 1/8 of a inch by the rim beed barrier to protect your rims from curb checks , but I can't compare the ride to my gmc , the test was on a2013 f-150 and IMO a POS truck.

Sorry I rambled off there. Just wanted to give ya all the info I can. And please I am not pushing Goodyear , that's just what I'm leaning to buy here in the next year or so.

I had the dealer send me pix of the all terrain tires and the all season tires. The all terrain tires look like they would make a shitload of road noise...what do you guys think?

I've got the SR-A's on my LTZ, they are quiet, haven't got to try the out in snow yet. No balance or vibration issues either. Guess I got lucky.

I'll say it again i absolutely positively HATE Goodyear tires. They wear entirely to fast for the price. In addition to that for as fast as they wear you would think they would grip better. The dealership put them on my TrailBlazer SS when I bought it. Brand new Goodyear Eagle RS-A's lasted under 16,000 miles. This isn't the only time this has occurred. I've had it happen with other cars and other Goodyear tires as well. If they came on my 22's I would have taken them off immediately. Thank God they came with Bridgestone tires...

Love to hear the story how they wore out so fast, I'm not trying to be rude but I sell goodyears everyday, that In my 3yrs have never had a issue ,as long as they followed the care program there tires are all wearing well some better then they should , , ofcourse driving habits, car care and tire maintainance all come into play, run ur tires 3lbs under the vehicals recommend pressure the tire wears faster , 3lbs over the tires wear faster, 90% of premature tire wear is the consumer not mantaining their vehicle , as much as I hate to say that, it's a fact. Yes every now and agian you get a bad tire , but to a set of 4 wear premature on a vehical, that's usually a problem with the car, and for you to have other cars have the same problem , this kinda tells me it's not the tires.

Sorry for sounding rude but, that's just math , the constant in the equation is your vehicals the tires are variable and they keep burning up, a 50,000mile rated RS-A wore out at 16,000 miles, You have to work at that, lack of rotating, roasting them, whatever , I'll give you credit, the RS-A is a shitty tire , but in my experience it wears out closer to 37,-42,000 miles. Again I'm sorry for being rude or if I have stepped out of line here. Goodyear send us to classes about these tires and competitor tires the shop I work for we sell every tire , just we are labeled as a Goodyear dealer , just locally owned , 30 shops,. Honestly didn't mean to get worked up just hard to see how that can happen.

A set of Goodyear Duratracs are going on my Denali as soon as I get it. I know lots here have plenty of gripes about Goodyear tires (and usually for good reason) but you don't often hear those gripes from those using Duratracs. They really got it right with that tire if you want a relatively aggressive offroad tire that's good in snow, decent in mud and still has pretty good highway manors. Compared back to back with BFG A/T KO's on my Trailblazer, I'd say they were significantly better in the snow and the mud and lasted much longer.

I'm happy with Bridgestones on my Truck, performed great in the last storm that blew thru. I do like the look of the Nito Grapplers, but no nothing about their performance.

When you wear out the Brigs, give the LTX a shot. If you use Discount, if in area, they will take them off if you do not like and put on some Brigs.

Mzodarg and I are limited with our choices because we have the 22's. Tire rack only lists 12 tires in that size and no Michelins. I would possibly give them a shot if they are available when my tires wear out hopefully in 40k-50k miles

Ater looking a little closer, I see that nitto trail grapplers come in a 22 but I don't think they are avaliable in the size I currently have in the bridgestone's. As I said earlier, I like the way they look, don't know crap about them.

I'm anal about my tire pressure I check about every week to two weeks and every day with TPMS. I rotated them every 3000 miles. Couldn't roast the tires if I tried it was full time AWD. Only time I had a tire break loose was in the rain or snow (they were terrible in rain and snow). I'll never own another set of Goodyears. Sorry to burst your bubble...

Ur not bursting my bubble dude. I know RS-As are a junk tire and ur dealership is retarded for putting the on that particular vehical, the RS-A is a summer sport tire , not designed for all season, dealership service managers do not know crap about the tires they are selling, I'll give some of them credit maybe 25-30% do but the majority just type ur tire size in the computer and start askin you which tire price is right for you instead of asking the customer, what kind of driving conditions they deal with everyday and what they mainly use their vehical for , are u more of a hwy driver then a city driver? That alone will change what tires I would recommend , what kind of vehical it is , does the vehical require the tire to have a certain speed rated tire, do u haul heavy equipment , are u a hunter and travel offroad a certain percentage of the time, I look at the person I'm selling to and ask them about their driving habits to see what it is they wany out of a tire. All those questions and prob more I'm not think of at the moment are all things a trained Goodyear, Michelin,Cooper, B.F Goodrich (which is made by Michelin) tire sales men are supposed to ask, far be it for me to tell anyone how to do their job , but as for me and what I have seen and had dealership relations , they dont know near as much as they should for them selling tires. I know honesty is a lost art in a lot of things these days, but I probably lose more sales daily because I'm honest, I don't like screwing people.

I'm sorry u had bad luck with Goodyear , but it was most like the uneducated service manager that didnt know any better.

Just like I said earlier I took off the SR-As and put on Bridgestone dueler H/Ts. Better truck tire IMO and have 10xs better wet & snow traction, better 4wheel drive capabilities to. I plan on gettin a 1.5inch levelin kit , added I want a slight nose dip believe or not that nose dip does in crease the aerodynamics , which adds to fuel milage, the I'm goin to a 285/55-20 as well . Tire rack has both the LTX A/2 and the Goodyear wangler adventure with Kevlar , which is the tire I'm leaning to.
