You mean warranty issues with GM on the exhaust if you remove the cats?

I assumed he meant any warranty issue with the truck that may pop up where then they would place the blame on the exhaust mods. At least that's how I took it.

I told them that that third cat had no sensor but they would not remove it. I am pretty sure others have removed the third cat... Unless they were confusing it with the rear resonator after the muffler. With all the different post it get hard for me to follow this thread (or any for that matter) when several steps at a mod are introduced.

But to sum it up everything in front of the muffler is still in place.

Nice deep throaty sound that goes to crap when 4V steps in... Time for the Range!

No, just had it put on today. I'll try to get one posted in the next day or two.

thanks in advance. I might be interested in which model number too if you have it.

OK here's the video entering the highway and cruising at 60, V8-V4... very little drone (although there will be some who will say "I CAN'T STAND THIS DRONE!!!)... Doesn't bother me a bit. In fact I like it. Use headphones for most accurate sound.

This is the 14" Magnaflow with resonator and flapper delete, fresh from the muffler shop. Will sound even better after a couple thousand miles of burn in.

My exhaust guy did this, so I don't know the model number of the muffler. He said 3" in, 3" out, 14" case, if that helps.

About to watch the video and I'm curious, do you have a single in, dual out? Or single in single out?

Edit: just watched it (yea I could've just waited and watched it and then posted but that's no fun. Had to start the post before watching)

How loud is it overall in the cab? The video makes it sound very loud. Or I guess a better question to ask is how is it compared to the 18" MF. I have the 18" right now and while it's nice. It's still really tamed even after 12,000 miles. I really thought it would've been louder by now.

Actually, no, it's not loud at all in the cabin. And compared to the 22" Magnaflow (which sounded like a stock muffler to me), the 14" is not much louder. (Single in, single out.)

As I drive around town and hear these Dodge Hemi's... I wanted that sound. The 14" is a great choice for me.

I just hate a V8 that sounds like a Honda.

Some people will get in my truck and say, "You need to put headers on this thing! It sounds like a Honda!"

Others will say, "How can you stand that noise?! WAY too loud!"

So to sum it up:

If you like the sound of a Throaty, Rumbling V8, you'll like this 14" Magnaflow.

If you like the sound of a Cadillac, don't buy it.

Mike, would you be willing to make a similar in cab video of your 18in?

I think I might be starting with the 14.

Yes I can. But not till next week. Truck is at the dealer. If I get the truck back this weekend then I will make it then. I'll try to get a 0-60 run, entering interstate, cruising city and cruising highway sounds all in the video. Also will get a start up.

The 18" is really mainly loud on start up and WOT. Other than that it's really tamed.

Russ...

I stated at the end of my video that inside the cabin was "virtually silent" even with the 14". I was over-stating that.

I like V8 exhaust sound, drag racing, muscle cars, loud rock music and sports bars.

So "virtually silent" to me is pretty dang loud to the Buick LaSabre crowd.

Thanks, I gathered that from the video. I had a super 40 on my Yukon, and like to hear what my right foot is doing. I recently was driving by a louder Chevy and my 11 yearly daughter even asked why my truck didn't sound like that. My exhaust shop will also let my try for a week or so and change mufflers for free if I am not happy. Just looking for my starting point. I think I am one that would take sound over v4, and will tune out v4 if it bothers me. From your video it didn't seem any worse than the drone of the super 40.

This may be a stupid question, and I hope I am in the correct place to ask it, but do you know if a cat-back exhaust that is made for the 2014 Silverado/Sierra will fit on the 2015? I am pretty sure it is essentially the same body style but I just want to make sure.

I am looking at getting the Flowmaster Outlaw, Part 817689, and I have emailed Flowmaster in regards to my question. I haven't heard anything back in a week, so maybe they think it is a stupid question too o_0

If you have an exhaust shop in your area check with them. I allways go custom that way you can have it your way. Ive had some pretty off the wall exhaust in my time. Edited by KARNUT

I can't imagine it would be that different. But like Karnut said, just have a local shop check with them. You could even just get the muffler and have the shop bend you some pipes for the catback. That way it's custom and I can't imagine you could possibly have fitment issues if the pipes are custom bent for the application.

Thanks Karnut and Mike1220, I'll check out a local shop after Thanksgiving and see what they can do. I'll post on here whatever I get and let you all know how it sounds. I do prefer it louder and don't at all mind the noise in the cab. I enjoy the loud muscle car like sound, just like an old '67 Chevelle SS!
