Whats up Fellas!. Newbie here. Here is my blacked out 15 Sierra Elevation Edition. I just wanted to post my setup in case anyone else was thinking of running a similar set up. Im currently only running 2" belltech shackles in the rear. Wheels are 22x9.5 with 31mm offset. Tires are 305/45/R22 Grabber UHP. No Vibrations, bottom out or rubbing, even on full lock. Hit me up with any questions.

What kind of wheels are those? Where did you get them?

So original measurements were 36.5F and 39.75R which led me to purchase a .25" replacement block, but turns out they were able to just remove the factory block and do the shackles which ended with 37F and 37.5R. I guess it pivots some when lowering the back which makes sense now that I think about it. I'll get some pics when it stops raining but it looks level to the naked eye, rides the same and improves the look for sure. It's a good use of $250 for parts and labor.

 

Now if I could just find some reasonable color matched door handles and mirror caps in onyx black :) Parts department wants $350 for parts and $300 to paint.

They are made by Verde custom wheels. Invictus v24 model. I've been getting a lot of positive comments on them. They also come in a 24" if your looking for that look. I opted for the 22 with a beefy tire. They are also available in a gloss black with the milled accents. I was really torn with the color because I know the black also would have looked killer on my black truck but the murdered out black truck is bit over used in my town. I wanted something to offset the black a bit. Came out good I think.

So, is a 2/4 drop the limit for a daily driven 2016 4x4 rcsb? Thinking about buying the DJM2515-2/4 kit, are the shocks DJM sells good?

I hope not, I intend to be daily driving my DCRB 4x4 at 4/7 in a couple weeks. I know hoowybrow was dailying a DCRB 4x4 with a 6/9 drop up until the winter.

 

As for DJM shocks, I haven't had any firsthand experience with them but I heard negative things. I went with Belltechs for now, may go with something a little more fancy in the future.

The DJM site says "not recommended for 4x4" on every kit lower than 2/4, but if it works, I would like to be at least 3/5.

Good to know about the shocks, Belltechs it is. I'm sure I can figure out what size I'll need.

It seems like manufacturers call it a 4" drop but in reality it's less. 2" shackles and 1.25" adds up to 3 1/4" in my world. Any thing more requires and flip kit which I am choosing to avoid and because I like the rake. If you absolutely have to have it level you won't be happy if you drop the front at all.

 

After 5000 km's I'm happy with my choice of DJM 2" lower control and 3.25" rear kits. The DJM rear shocks are at best adequate. I definitely feel the rear is out of sorts compared to the factory bilsteins up front. I intend change them out and bolt on a Helliwig sway bar in the near future.

My front spoiler has taken a bit of a beating. :(

Any chance you have a picture of your front set up with the new control arms? Also, if the DJM shocks are that bad, any idea of a particular shock or size that would be better suited for this application? I figure I might as well do it right the first time.

I installed a McGaughys 5/7 drop on my 15 Sierra single cab and the after the install the driveshaft doesn't go back on. Has anyone had this issue

I can snap a pic later today. Not much to see under there really.

I believe the Belltech's are a better shock. The DJM's are ok and considering they cost what, $80 or something I'm not complaining or surprised.

    • Hey guys, sorry for the confusison about this. This wasn't my experainnce, it was copied and pasted fom the net. 
    • The problem with failure rates or increase failures are there’s people who don’t have a problem. What are you doing wrong they say. We had 4 5.7 GM diesel’s in the family when they came out. One was flawless. My uncle who happened to be the most abusive. Early rotary engines were known to use oil. I abused my first car so bad in six months I replaced the clutch, transmission and rear end. It didn’t use oil. My brother in law has a 2013 Tahoe and an older Yukon. The Yukon has 280K miles. The Tahoe around 175K. He runs them to about 300K. If his lifters fail before that time he would consider it a failure. My Hondas, I know people hate it when I mention them. Identical engines. One with cylinder deactivation one doesn’t have it. One shudders when the eco light goes on or off. Cylinder deactivation. But wait! According to the web. It can happen with lock up too. So now people in the know are changing the oil and transmission fluid more often. Then you read it could be a programing issue. So what do you do? There’s lots of money involved. I see three ways to deal with it. One only works if you don’t drive lots of miles. Lease, never get out of warranty. Or only buy older vehicles with a good track record. They all have bad runs. Usually when there’s a change. Even Toyota and Honda. 
    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.
