I might have a set of shackles after tomorrow if you don't and if Supercharged is interested.

So that kit lowers the front end with drop shocks,  which will change your front axle angles slightly.

Technically, if you drop drop spindles on top of the drop shocks,  the angles should still be the same as the 2''  strut drop because spindles should keep the stock driveshaft angles.  So 4'' with spindles and shocks is the same as just the 2'' with shocks.  If that makes sense.

Uhhmmmyeahnokinda :P

What you're saying is I can drop the front 2" with the "Drop Shocks" in that kit and it will cause the axles to move a little towards the back (front wheel not centered in the wheel well syndrome we'll call it?)

Add drop spindles for 2" more of drop, giving me 4" total, but won't make the wheel well centering any worse?

1.) If that's what you're saying, again, the kit Bell quoted me was for the wrong year of truck to start with according to their webpage.

2.) The part number in that kit they quoted (drop spindle set 2509) says, "Belltech Drop Spindles offer a 2 or 3 inch drop depending on the application" so is it 2" or 3" on the spindles in that kit?

Is it easier for me to ask, if you had my truck, which kit, kit plus additional parts, or individual parts from both Bell and McG would you get for a 3/5 to 4/6 drop. The ability to adjust it up or down a little in case I don't like the look, or clearance is just not enough for here (remember, snow, and I have a 4X4).

Thanx,

I have... and lovelessjl's truck as well. 4/6 looks great! But it's not all appearance. I need the right amount of clearance for the roads here (which are very crappy) and winter / snow is on the way here! I'll probably even take the front plastic lip off for winter regardless of which drop height I decide on.

If you know how to drive youll be fine. Im on a 4.5/7 drop with a 28.5" tall tire. I know the roads and they are shitty here as well.

Driving a lowered vehicle takes practice but its not hard

You are correct , the lowering shocks will cause the wheel to move slightly towards the rear of the wheel well, the drop spindles will not.

Pretty much all the manufacturers will tell you they recommend no more than 2/4 drop on a 4x4. But that's mostly just them playing very safe. I haven't heard of a single problem from anyone after dropping a 4x4, and some guys have gone a good bit farther than quank and I.

Here's what I did. I used the mcgaughys 2/4 drop that came with the spindles and the rear flip, then ordered 2" lowering springs and swapped the springs out on my stock struts. It's the same as ordering drop shocks, just a bit cheaper. You don't have to do anything else in the rear, as the flip kit is adjustable from 4-7" just set it at 6 and you're good to go.

The 2 or 3 inch thing is most likely an allowance for different weight vehicles or something, but I can't speak for any other parts than mcgaughys, because I haven't used anything else.

Greatly appreciated Jake! More info for me to absorb and learn this stuff. Just had our first official snowfall last night, about 3-4 inches so far, and drove to work this morning, first time ever in my life in over 25 years of driving having an RWD in snow. It was "fun" to say the least. 4X4 wasn't necessary, but would have made my life easier i'm sure but never engaged it. All season tires with 50% tread left and no weight in the back didn't help either :P

Right now I am leaning towards the McG kit as I can buy it adjustable. Then once I see it installed, if I want to move it one way or the other, I'll already have the parts. Or is the Bell "kit" shipped the same way? I also use the word "kit" loosely now as I know I will have multiple P/N's because of my 4X4.

Just want to clarify something in this post as well... You're at 4/6 and with parts above you did not need to replace the OEM shocks or struts?

Replacing with lowering struts helps with the chevy lean.  And rear shocks would have to be changed to shorter ones

I'm assuming when you mention it helps correct the "Chevy Lean" this is not because of the strut itself, but rather when you have lowering struts you have the ability to "adjust" them via the spacers that are included with them?

    • I have A 2020 1500 5.3 8 speed. LTZ. Transmission problems since 60,000 miles. Started when I go to store in morning to get my morning coffee before work leave truck running get back in put it in drive/ rev no movement step on gas a little slams into gear. Put in neutral step on gas little shake then put in gear and gose.  Shut truck off start .. ok now at stop light stop truck after a few seconds feel a little kick if that doesn’t happen stuck in 3/4 gear shut truck off wait few seconds and start usually ok again. If you down shift manually ok as long as you get into 1st before stop. If not it kicks . I WANT A NEW TRANSMISSION. Now I want a new truck it just hit 80,000 IDK IF ILL BUY CHEVY CAUSE THEY STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO RECALL . Oh I’ve changed the fluid and filter 3 times now. And yes used mobile 1 not ac/delco cause it’s not meeting the requirements that mobile is did use ac/delco filter

    • While waiting for parts I have been working on installing the AC compressor, new accumulator, and orifice tube. Also changed out the high side ball valve (original). The orifice tube that was in there wasn't too bad. Slightly dirty, a little bit of junk, but not blocked. Glad I changed it out.   The accumulator, which should have been a 5 minute job, may have just burned $50. Put some PAG in it, wrote the date and mileage on the side, fresh o-rings and gooey'd up the threads and rings with Nylog. Got everything connected and snugged and was going to vacuum down the system, and....   My manifold gauge won't fit on the port. It's not an R12 service port. It LOOKS like an R134 service port but the diameter is a hair too large. There's a sticker on the accumulator that says it's designed to be used with R12 and R134a systems only. So it's not R1234yf. Even if I reduced the diameter slightly with a file, the shoulder on the port is too large so the quick-connect valve won't lock on. I'm stumped. It's going back, and 50/50 on if they'll give me a refund.   Also, I did a fuel pressure test.... Key on, the gauge spikes to about 60psi and quickly bleeds off, like 2psi per second. The fuel isn't going into the plenum, no smell, starts fine, so I'm guessing there's a bad check valve in the pump and the fuel is just draining back into the tank. oh, hell. But, it shouldn't be a problem, pump primes just fine and the truck starts right up. It just means I can't really ever use fuel pressure to verify a leak at the injector or intake.
    • Got this yesterday out of nowhere. Truck is a 25',6.6 gasser with 8k miles.  Only semi anomaly is that the truck had been sitting, uncranked for 6 days. Elec Stability Control showed immediately upon cranking, not while driving. No drivability issues, just the message. Battery didn't seem to be weak when cranking over.  I drove it, killed it, let it sit a few hrs with no avail.  Truck is 100% stock. No damage.
