Day 1 Brand New

 

So I'm looking into doing some lowering on my new 2017 regular cab. I originally wanted a low 2wd street rod type of truck, but there's just those occasional winter conditions around here that make a 4x4 necessary.

 

I already removed the lift block in it which gets the gap up front around 6" and the rear 8.25" (was previously 9.375" with the block).

 

After a lot of reading I think my plan is to do 2" front using Belltech's front adjustable struts and 3" in the rear with Belltechs 2-3" shackle and shocks. I don't want to do a flip kit and such just yet as I drove the truck off the lot with 8 miles just yesterday.

 

Am I on the right track? My main priority is to keep it riding really well, so if there is a better way I'd probably take it.

Id do spindles over struts if you're just doing 2" in front. Keeps alignment better

Are the 2wd spindles listed the same as 4wd? Brand preference?

 

I want to be sure I can go to 3 or 4 up front later on.

I forgot you had 4wd. Not sure there's a 4wd spindle yet for avv arms. I guess start off with the struts

Quick tire question. With a 4/7 drop and 22's what size tire should I run to avoid most of the rubbing?

265 40 22 or 265 35 22

 

35 series will look a bit small though

 

Either way you will still have rubbing, but a lot less

What about a 20" wheel with only 3" drop up front. All the tire fitment threads I'm finding seem to cover lift kits and negative offsets.

 

I have a 20x10 +10mm

I run a 305/45/22 on a 4/7 drop

I only rub on big dips on the road and when the wheel is in full lock

Heres my new truck just lowered it this past weekend. Its a 2/4 drop right now with knuckles in the front and an axle flip in the rear. More mods to come in the next few weeks.

I'm wondering how much taller an LT Z71 is over the regular trims.

The 4x I'm almost positive are the same height. My 2wd looked lifted when I first got it

Almost positive that is what my 4x4 CCSB is at factory as well
