2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

I also have the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite. I got it installed at point of purchase in Nov. '14. I got the dealer to pay for it and install it for free as a part of the negotiations. I now have 23k mi on my truck and this thing still looks and functions like it did new. I have taken it in rain and snow many times. I recently had 4ft of snow stacked up on it for a few days... no issues. Inside stays dry. I only get a little bit of water dripping down the side walls inside the bed when it is pressure washed. Great cover. It does take a little bit of the bed away when I fold it up and put my bikes or other things in there... fairly easy to remove if needed. I have not needed to though.

I just installed a Bakflip G2. Took about 15 minutes. So far I like the fit and finish, Looks like I will get a chance to test the water leakage tomorrow.

So I have been reading almost every page of this thread and still can't quite make up my mind on tonneau cover. I unfortunately don't have any places around here that I can view any of these products in person and was hoping I could get a little feedback. BTW 14 Silverado 1500 High Country with 5'8" bed.

 

Here is what I'm looking for:

 

-Needs to be water tight

-Needs to easily be able to use entire length of my bed

-Looks are very important

-Cost is least important

 

I am considering these options and can't figure out the big differences with what I've read on here and other sites.

 

-BakFlip Revolver X2- Currently Leaning toward this option

-Truxedo Titanium- seems almost identical to Revolver

-G4 Elite- seems like it would be the worst option when folded up but I may be missing something

-ReTrax Pro- honestly can't figure out why it's so much more expensive but was hoping someone could give me an idea

 

Or if I am missing an option please recommend

I've seen dealer displays of the Revolver X2 and the Titanium, see my comment in post #1272. In addition, the Titanium seemed a bit more flimsy overall.

 

The aluminum with the RetraxPro is more "beefy" than the X2 and Titanium, it's also double-walled and actually much more substantial. You can definitely feel the difference.

I recently got the Truxedo Truxport. I think it looks really good, nice and taut, doesn't make any noise, inexpensive ($240), made in the USA, 5yr warranty.

 

I thought about getting a higher end cover, but couldn't justify the price. While the velcro sides can be pulled up, I don't think someone could get anything out of the bed without destroying the cover. It also keeps rainwater out. So far so happy.

Guys I'm looking for some help. Read thru the thread and its a array of every type of cover. Some cheap some expensive some hard some soft but the minute I read one that sounds good another pops up just as good. I'm looking to get a cover but these are the things I'm looking to stay within

1. Reasonably priced.. Probably no more than 400-450

2. Water tight or at least as much as possible

3. Probably soft as I'm assuming cheaper.

4. Somewhat good looking and flowing with the bed

5. Thinking a rolling vs the tri fold for more use of the bed when needed

 

I was looking at the gator sr2. Looks nice, sits more on the inside of the bed, has rails to hold snow weight on top... Anyone use this and have any thoughts on it. If not the gator what ones do you guys recommend?

I have a Gator 2 on my 2015 Sierra short bed. Very good quality and good price. Stays dry in wet weather also.

Not sure what you mean by this. I actually bought a tri-fold for this exact reason. It gives me MORE use of the bed then the roll-up kind. I just crawl in the bed and remove 4 thumb wheels and the entire cover comes off with nothing left in the bed. I can either stand it up in the bed or put it in the cab (I have a crew cab). With the roll-up ones there are rails that stay attached to your bed and get in the way ...

I've never had a truck so never had a cover. I had though a roll up would give more room but forgot about the rails. My main stuff I'll be carrying is maybe furniture or mulch ect. I won't be getting rock or wood. What trifold did you get. Not leaking is one of my most want on a cover

No noise at all when you are driving.....barely even moves.

 

Love how flush it fits, you can hardly even see it on the truck unless you are looking for it...and it doesn't cover "any" of the Chevrolet logo on the side rail caps.

One thing i'm working on overcoming is that stacking a bed-load full of kayaks on their sides does push pretty hard on the tonneau's rails. Right now I've got some pipe insulation from home depot i'm putting on the rails to keep kayaks from bending them. I need a Trac Rac.

Oh yeah I know all about that dang yellow pollen....it's finished here for the year and I'm so happy !.....Hate that stuff.

 

Funny thing is when I was a kid I don't remember it....and my Dad doesn't either (and he is as picky as me about his cars)....can't figure out why it's so bad now.

 

That Trac Rac would come in handy with the kayaks for sure !

So I got this cover and didn't know who has this exact one and your review of it. I haven't installed it yet since my truck is still being built but if it's a piece of crap, it's going back.
