My vibration saga!!!

Well, I purchased a new 2014 Silverado LTZ Z71 a couple months ago. MSRP right at $52000 I believe. Vibration at highway speeds is terrible. Dealer has put new tires on, road forced balanced those. Checked driveshaft. Put different tires and wheels on it on from another truck on the lot, no fix either. I even purchased a new set of wheels and tires thinking that would fix it, but did not. It is terrible at 75+ MPH. They are putting a vibration detection machine on my truck tomorrow while I drive it for a few days. This will determine if it is "within specs" or not. I drove it to Dallas over the holidays and after 6 hours of this, I was ready to drive it off a bridge. I hope this gets resolved soon or I will trade it in. Well, I tried to upload a video but the file was too big

Give them an opportunity to fix it as required by the lemon law in your state. If they cannot, lemon law the vehicle and get a full refund. GM should not be able to get away with this BS. They should either fix the problem or refund your money. They employ an entire army of people whose only job is to find more ways to minimize the production costs by substituting lower quality parts and by finding ways to jack up the sticker prices. At some point this strategy will backfire and it already has.

I remember reading someone on here a member got a complete refund and upgraded to a black Denali. Maybe look through the posts and ask him about it. You need to get and keep receipts for every time they work on it....very important!

Good luck!

I thought the one person who had their fixed finally had the driveshaft replaced, their dealer had said it was fine and with in spec but it still ended up being the culprit.

Read this link on it. Several people have had problems. Some have resolved their issues. As you will see their are several things that can cause this. Good luck.

I just purchased a 2014 GMC Sierra and noticed the truck shaking and vibrating at speeds between 70 to 80 MPH. I only have 5000 miles on it. I also noticed it in a loaner truck they let me borrow when i had issues with my inntellilink screen going out,but never paid it any mind. These were two brand new trucks.

Andraya- Have you taken a look at the Shake & Vibration blog lately on GM-Trucks here? Over 2000 posts about this very issue! Why hasn't a GM Customer Care rep responded on any of these posts?

I've been putting up with this issue (vibration at highway speeds) since my 14 Z71 was new back in June of last year. It's been into the dealer multiple times. Balanced, Road force balanced. Rotated..no luck. Dealer installed Nitto 20" tires and gear rims.

Dealer sheared off a lug stud when first trying to fix it and took 3 weeks to get a replacement. They have difficulty un-mounting the rims every time I take it back to the point the service advisor tells me she HATEs my rims.

Dealership has gone as far as asking that I take it elsewhere to see if someone else can balance it to see if the dealership's machine is "off". Unacceptable.

This isn't just an annoying vibration. Drinks in the cup holder either have to be capped or I run the risk of wiping them up eventually. The passenger seat shakes VISIBLY.

It is back in the shop now at another dealer with only 300 miles left on the bumper to bumper and I'm being told that GM knows there is an issue and it relates to the change from a soft to a hard bushing in some part of the vehicle which transfers vibration instead of dampening it.

Another employee at the dealership claims that that run of Nitto Tires has had issues. Needless to say I've witnesses so much dancing around this that I feel like I'm at a ballet.

Sad. Because otherwise I LOVE THIS TRUCK! Enough that I bought my wife an identical model. Which DOESN"T vibrate!

I suspect the warranty will expire and I will be forced to pay once this issue is actually identified and is able to be resolved.

I've decided today that I'm going to go after resolution under Arkansas' lemon law. I'm not accepting the truck back unless it is fixed. Almost 90k spent with GM in the last 8 months between two vehicles. Fool me once! I'm embarrassed that people riding with me laugh at me for accepting that this vibration is "normal". Enough!
