Finally got mine in. Went good but I waited to check everything till it was all assembled. Seems I don't have any USB but everything else works. Work on it next weekend hopefully it will be a little cooler out.

Looks awesome, my next mod.  Where did you get the console?  Been looking at several of the GM sites and it seem that GMDirect has the cheapest so far.

I got mine from my employer. Even with employee discount it wasn't much cheaper than gmpartsdirect.

Got it installed. Everything works like factory. Phil thanks for the harness! It made the install very easy and straight forward.

Anyone have a GREEN to GREY cable they don't need and are looking to sell? I may have found a way to get every port and the AUX input working.

I bought a cheap mini USB female to USB female adapter on Amazon for testing. I disconnected my inner USB hub (the one that wasn't working) and used the adapter to connect a USB flash drive directly to the Output of the front hub. It worked.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00474R7HO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(This part wouldn't be used in the final setup, it was just used to verify that connecting a flash drive directly to the Output on the back of the Front console USB hub worked).

So both hubs are connected directly to the HMI. I verified this worked a few weeks ago, but it means the Glove Box port has nowhere to connect to, however with this testing I should be able to connect the Glove Box to the front Hub and have everything working. There isn't a specific part that I can see that would do this, but they're just Mini USB connectors so a generic cable should work, would just need electrical tape or something to keep the connections secure.

This means I should be able to run:

HMI -> Front Console Hub (Green to Grey cable)

HMI -> Inner Console Hub (Black to Brown cable)

Front Console Hub -> Glove Compartment Port (generic Mini USB extension cable) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015HKPDAE?pf_rd_p=d1f45e03-8b73-4c9a-9beb-4819111bef9a&pf_rd_r=HJVW9D9NJGNQETAPW9T4

This is interesting. I am not sure why the loop out of the front is not driving that USB Data logic to the inside compartment one.

This tells me that there might be some internal hardware differences between these Double Port Front - USB hubs.

What I still don't understand is how use media doesnt work but carplay and Android auto do. Doesn't make any sense. I have spare cables here so I may venture down this road too.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
