I finished installing my rear and side aux lights for Camping and Plowing.  The side lights are 3,700lm and each has its own switch to control it.  Facing rear I have a 16,000lm light on the headache rack and 2 4,800lm lights in the bumper. The rear light can be used in one of 2 ways. 1st is with a switch in the overhead. The 2nd is when the cargo lights are turned on these rear aux lights will come on. So if the cargo lights are left on these lights will go on and off with the backup lights. I installed a waterproof switch under the left bed rail that turns off the aux lights so I can use the stock cargo lights without being blinded.  Regardless of how the aux lights are switched they are powered by the 2nd battery I installed so I have no fear of killing the truck's battery by using them with the truck off. I went out of my way to install the switches in such a way that they look somewhat factory. Or at the very least don't look too tacky.

I now have more light facing backward than forward as you can see in the pictures. I would like to add an LED light bar inside the grill but this being a 2017 I can't find one that will fit. Tho when I did all the wiring for this system I did install a switch and wiring for a forward light bar should I find a way. This is a complete stand along electrical system that only ties into the trucks system in 2 places. One is by way of a battery crossover with isolator and the other is a signal line from the cargo lights. My hope is that the dealer will not give me a hard time if I have a warranty issue in the future.

Very well done!

Do you find the extra lighting washes out the rear view camera?

If you have one of course!

I was just wondering where you were with your sound deadening on the roof Phil. Looking forward to hearing  your review and seeing some pics of the process.

I was worried about that also but so far it looks good. I think if it is going to be an issue I will see it this winter. I will take a picture of the cam when it gets dark.

1st picture is with my normal back up lights as seen through the camera. I should say I have LED bulbs in the factory lights and I have 2 extra backup lights built into my headache rack but they are not super bright.

2nd picture is with the normal backup lights and my new Aux lights on.

3rd picture is with everything on right up against my garage. The camera just adjusts to the higher light level.

Well I didn't do this all today, bought the truck new a month ago...chose white...I like it but it looks kind of a little too plain and my kid keeps asking...dad why didn't you buy the black one? I keep telling him I'm going to "storm trooper this one out". Took the first step this weekend; taped off the bow tie badges and sprayed them black - came out real nice - even the wife said...it makes the whole truck look better (which makes me really wonder if I just should have bought the black one, lol).

But since owning it I've installed a duraliner bed liner - did some shopping around, found it for $180 plus $50 shipping. Was a little worried it wasn't going to fit right but it was a breeze to install and seems high quality. That was the cheapest liner I could find that looked decent (my buddy has a factory drop in liner and this thing looks at least as good).

Added weather tech mud flaps...super easy install...maybe took 20 minutes.

And after a lot of research on this forum I bought running boards from running board warehouse. Went with black six inch wide flat looking nerf bars that kind of curve in at the ends only a little bit. Very beefy looking. Didn't like that they attach to the rockers but I just couldn't find many that didn't, and they were highly rated in the reviews.

I changed the oil out at 1,500 miles using 0w20 dexos approved Mag1. Probably will run that for 5,000 miles, then I'll head into the dealer for my "free" oil change.

I also bought a can of rubberized undercoating and touched up any spots where it was missing. I also sprayed some 3M rust prevention into the rockers and doors. I plan on doing a complete oil treatment twice a year either through NH Oil undercoating or Fluid Film (I'm buying a five gallon bucket and spray gun). Did some research on the frame wax GM uses which brough me to Nox Rust?? I might buy some of that to do the frame. I'm not concerned too much with oiling the frame with either fluid film or NH oil because I've tried the fluid film on spots and it didn't harm the wax coati at all, in fact out of all the stuff I've put on the bare spots (rubberized, 3M, tanglefoot, grease,). The fluid film was the most adhering and gentle (I've read otherwise by people on this forum but I've seen first hand through myself and others that it doesn't harm it). A guy I work with just spent $220 to have someone fluid film his entire truck and it looks good.

Next up I need to get rid of these hideous 17" rims and stock street like tires. I don't even know if I'd be able to sell these things?? Who would want them? Maybe a Chevy Colorado owner? They just look so pathetic on this truck. I'm not looking to go too big because of fuel mileage, but I want at least an 18" with a somewhat truck looking tire...and I want the rims black to go with the white truck.

At first glimpse my son wanted me to stormtrooper my white 2500 too.. I planned on wrapping the grill loovers and the hood scoop lover as well.

I’ll also plastidip the other badges (DMAX, Silverado, etc.) black. He has been begging me to put the 3 red finger swipes from rogue one on it too. Not sure if I’ll go that far.

@pgamboa phil does yours have the sliding rear window?  I've been thinking about installing one but I dont know if they also have the defroster grid in them.   Thoughts?

Great!  Thank you Phil.

I just got a new issue and I don't know what I did to have this happen.  My alarm will not beep when I hit the lock a second time.  I also noticed that the dash light  flashed rather fast compared to when the alarm was on before.  Any idea what I may have done?

Have you checked your settings, I turned my horn off for alarm/door locking I personally can’t stand all the noise people make with their horns and prefer not to draw attention to myself.

Might just be me though.

Yep, checked that and found my normal running lights dont come on either. I didn't even make any changes.  The lights dont flash when I turn the alarm on anymore.  I did the reset that shows in settings and that didn't fix it either.  This all just happened somehow on my way to work.

Anyone have a preferred non “dynamat” brand sound deadened? I’ve used Raamat in the past but the website sucks and the owner turned douche when I tried to order for my 1500.
