Great truck in the snow/ice

Just bought my truck about 10 days ago, and it could not have been better timing (gotta thank God for that). Snowmageddon has hit the south, and if it weren't for this truck I would have been stranded on the side of the road or worse. Kudos to Chevy, this truck can handle some serious ice and snow like its nothing.

I love blizzards. Everyone is crashing into each other and flying into the ditch.. I'm just drifting corners and blasting through snow drifts.

I bought my truck two weeks ago from tomorrow. We got nearly 3 inches of snow here in NC yesterday. Dropped my truck off at the dealership Monday night to have the spray in bed liner and DuPont protection applied. Needless to say, I was stranded today. The loaner GMC Arcadia could not even make it out of the driveway today. Horrible. First real snow in NC in 3 years and I'm left WITHOUT a 4WD. Picking my truck up tomorrow. I sure have missed her.

I still see grass - just yanking your chain I agree it goes pretty good in the snow we had 15 inches one week and while that is a lot for us here in southern WV the truck did pretty good considering the temps have hovered around zero or below for a couple of weeks. I just wished those people in the Mid West and Canada would learn to keep their weather up there ;)

4wd system and stability control work great, but the tires blow. I run Michelin snows and it is unstoppable, I'm up in New England and travel to Maine/nh/vt on a regular basis so I need the extra insurance.

 

FYI- unless you're talking 2' of snow I'd take my chances in a 2WD w/ stability control on blizzaks w/ sandbags and a full tank of gas vs. a 4WD w/ all terrains.

 

Tires are more important for sure. This is coming from a guy who put 135,000 miles on a 355rwhp rwd G8 drove it through blizzards and slush sleet up to ski lodges you name it

Had mine on some frozen roads today with a 4000 lb trailer and was very surprised on how the auto 4wd worked and the braking.

I agree, this is my second Sierra and I have to say they do very well in the snow. The picture shows about 15" and the truck had no problem with it!!!

No offense but that little bit of snow/ice we still maintain 70 here in Michigan. That looks like one of the "not so bad days" around here. I am sure anyone who hasn't been doing it their whole life would have problems tho.

We got a good amount in VA . 10-12" .. Truck did well in Auto 4wd . Braking surprised me as it took a lot for me to get them to start locking or trying to lock up before it caught it.

 

Sorry if 10-12 offends you people up north lol. Down here 10-12 is a every 10-15 year event and mostly everyone around here loses complete ability to operate motor vehicles.

Did the water freeze enough for the wolves to make it this year to Isle Royale? I have found but one article even mentioning it - would love to know if it froze enough to give those moose a run for their money LOL

The Great Lakes are 62% covered in ice, haven't heard of anything crossing from Isle Royale tho. That's a pretty long walk

Haha us Canadians are laughing at the American newscasts making this out to be an emergency that you got snow in the south. Looks like a typical Saskatchewan winter to me, lol

 

I have to admit though, I wouldn't want to drive your roads right now either, because nobody else on them knows how to drive on them like a Canadian does. When we see all the pictures of the vehicles in the ditches on the news there, all us Canadians can do is laugh... when you see vehicles in the ditch here, it usually started with someone saying, "hold my beer and watch this!"
