Well after going back and forth for a couple weeks over this, the dealer I purchased from (John Jones GM City in Salem IN) has basically thrown the bulletin at me and told me they will do nothing. It's disappointing but it's just a few led bulbs, not the end of the world.

Call a different dealer. Don't give up, they'll fix it if you make enough noise

I would continue to ask them and maybe contact GM Customer Service up here to see if they can help assist you. It's worth a shot. If they still say no, don't buy from them again or recommend them to others. There are plenty of dealers who still believe in customer service after the sale that would love to earn your business. I was fortunate to have a great dealer that will likely keep getting my business and also recommendations to others.

So you guys that had yours fixed... what did they do? Was the entire radio replaced or just the knobs? Entire HVAC control or just knobs? Anyone know the part numbers?

I got a response this morning that sounded promising. Anyone have a copy of the invoice where you had yours replaced showing correct P/N for the radio and hvac?

Entire control and screen. Takes like 30 minutes to do both

Anyone had this issue fixed in the Dallas / Ft Worth area?? If so, what dealer as I have tried 2 and get the same answer that mine is operating as designed.

That's the stance that GM and the dealerships have taken on this matter. Unless the window sticker says "Colored LED border lighted radio & climate control knobs" they are not obligated to provide them since they are not listed as an option on the vehicle. Think that's bad, some people have been hose on their rear axle gears.

There is such a thing as "in print" and if you look In the owners manual it says it's there. So we have a right to fight this with GM!

Took mine in to try and get it fixed but they gave me the response my truck does not have the RPO code from the factory. Anyone got an ideas for me?

Call GM and tell them your owners manual says it should have it... And its even harder to believe that there's thousands of people that have no clue their lights don't work...

I was also without lights around radio knobs and HVAC control knobs. I took into my dealer last week and they fixed the radio knob illumination. I was told they changed a control module that included a new screen and took under than 30 minutes. I guess I'll make another visit and have them take another look the HVAC knob.

More Good News:

Since the repair, I've have noticed the touch function on the screen is so much more responsive than before. I would frequently have to touch the display at least 2 times before the Radio Display would respond. Now I barely touch it and it responds immediately!

This is truly sad on gm's part but I have to say I'm not surprised. They could care less about their customers. The service advisors are so quick to make you feel stupid.

God, thanks again for pointing me to lease this truck.

Has anyone had any luck with this recently?

I've actually had this done in the past on a 2014 Silverado but that truck got totaled out. I just told the service guy at Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land that they don't light up and they had it done under customer satisfaction. I'm actually in the process of buying another 2014 Silverado and it doesn't light up (surprise!). I asked the guy if they'd do it again and he said no. They had to jump through so many hoops last time and so he said it was kind of a one time thing. I'm going to buy the truck regardless because it's a good deal and two awesome members, Agacmddj1 and 2happyhicks, found a way to solder in resistors and repair it yourself. I'd rather have the dealer fix it on principal so I was just wondering if I should mentally brace myself for some resistance from the dealers or not.

Thanks!

Tuan

Anyone?  I could have sworn I saw pics somewhere on how to solder in resistors so the leds would work on these early 14’s.
