Silverado LED Radio/HVAC knobs: part #'s & warranty claims

They replaced both of the boards (radio control and HVAC control) listed above, but the prices they listed for parts are no where near these prices. Go figure.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought I was looking at something different for a while there.

Anyone had the radio nob rings and hvac controls replaced since installing the factory nav HMI module. Do they have to reflash the HMI to get the backlights to work?? Do you lose the nav?

I would not think so, the HMI and boards are separate from each other. The stock boards were just missing LEDs, that's all. Swapping an HMI should not affect which lights turn on or off, as all the dealer will do is swap the affected circuit board parts.

the wife picked up the truck from the dealership today after getting the light issue fixed. (it also had the latest recall done) they all work now, and It was easy peasy. I had just told them that I had noticed they weren't working and that a truck on the show floor had them working. here is a picture of the service order,

Yes. Silverado early builds only knobs missing illumination around radio and HVAC controls on dual climate control units. Not a Sierra problem - they are not missing illumination.

Anyone have any updates if they've been trying to get them repaired. I've notified my servicing dealer, and am waiting for the next scheduled maintenance before I push a little harder to have it all done at once.

The way GM is brushing off most of the Silverado owners who may want their LED rings illuminated, I'll likely also look elsewhere for future vehicles. Yes, I know all makes have issues. That's not the point. This GM is turning out to be more and more like the old GM. No surprise, really. People paying a pile of money for these things, and GM won't even consider making things right by their customers, it seems. Time will tell. I'll update when I get a final answer from them. For GM to spend around $500 on parts/labor to fix their own mistake, should be a no-brainer. Then, again, they didn't want to replace ignition switches nearly 10 years ago, either.

I've still not gotten mine replaced, but it's not entirely due to GM. I told my dealer that I'd just have it done on my next service visit with the oil change, tire rotation, recall/computer updates/transmission line checks. I talk to them every so often just to keep if fresh and they say they haven't gotten a definitive answer from GM yet. Not sure how to take that, but it sounds like someone is trying to put it off long enough that I'll forget or give up. I did PM GM Customer Service up here, as they stated to do, about having it done either by me or other means if I wanted. Hopefully they will have good news. I just hope GM makes things right by the people who ask to have it done, as it should have been from factory. Other than the lights, I'm completely satisfied with my truck and have had no problems. Over 11,000 happy miles and counting.

Based on the latest document that was posted from GM does anyone know when the "2nd Design" (with the lit knobs) went into production?

Is there a definitive date, or is it still at GM's discretion?

Mine was built in April of 2014 and came with the LEDs.

See a pcture of the bulletin in post #183. There is no date cutoff. It just says however your radio/HVAC knob illumination was delivered is correct. They advise dealers to take no further action. In other words, there is no defect, just a runnung change.
