Silverado LED Radio/HVAC knobs: part #'s & warranty claims

i didnt read all these posts, but it appears there is a little confusion, with the Dual (auto) climate control only the fan knob in the middle is supposed to have a backlight, on the manual climate control both the knobs, (Fan and temp) have the back light. Both models should have the radio knobs backlight.

I believe the 2happychicks have it 100% correct. I would not want people going to their dealers wanting something that was not possible and saying they got the information from this supposedly reliable information source forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Well I complained to the GM customer rep on an email survey and they called me back with a claim number. The dealer called me back and told me to bring my truck back so they can look at it and gave me a loaner yesterday. So today they called me and said they got an approval from GM to replace my radio and hvac bezel etc. So yay! Thanks everyone for your help in here. I guess complaining and keeping at it helps....Thanks!

I had the radio LED's and HVAC control module replaced over the weekend. I had it in the dealership for other work (oil change and safety recall) and they ordered the parts to correct. GM gave them the go ahead apparently without any issues as I assume to satisfy a customer.

Glad you got it fixed! I hope GM is realizing that a radio with bad back lighting may cause customers not to return in the future vehicles over a couple hundred dollars.

I am happy for those of you who have had the LED halos ifxed. I complained and GM Customer care opened a case for me. On the same day that the case was opened, my dealer refused to fix the issue siting the letter that was posted on here some time ago stating that it was an early production issue and that they (the dealers) need to tell the customers that it is operating as intended. After 3 days, I had not heard anything from GM Customer care or my dealer. GM Customer care told me that they will reach out to the dealer, but that went nowhere also. Frustrated, I requested GMCC to just close the case.

Why would you close the case? Let customer care fight for what is right!

Honestly, the halos not working is an extremely minor issue for me and always has been. However, I was only fighting out of principal. I probably should not have let it go so easily, but my patience has gotten the better of me on waiting for this to move forward. Plus, I have larger issues with my truck to worry about right now other than the halos.

I had my truck in to the dealership today for a few warranty issues, the lighted rings being one of them. I just told them that I had noticed they weren't working, showed them a GM promo pictures of them working, and a truck on the floor had them working, and the parts are on order to fix them. Good day right there!

Got the HVAC light replaced, but of course the part for the radio knobs was broken in shipping. So I'll have to go back again to get those replaced, once new parts come in. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByTapatalk1394547324.531890.jpg

My radio knobs were replaced today, but the HVAC board was defective. They will have a new board in Monday to fix it. Interesting issues with these boards.

I'm surprised you guys are getting your nobs lit up. There is a new bulletin that says not to do it. Working as designed.

"At the beginning of production for 2014, these rings were not illuminated. As a running change, these rings are now illuminated.

Explain to the customer their vehicle is operating normally. Do not attempt to repair or replace any parts to alter the original vehicle design intent. You may wish to give the customer a copy of this bulletin."

More power to ya though.

I persdonally think it's incredib;y lousy of GM to not fix every radio and HVAC display knob out that isn't lit as they were intended to be. The trucks should have never hit the dealers like they are. If GM wants to be known as lazy, and cheap then so be it.

Right on! That's the same way I feel. If someone wants them lit, GM should do it without question. The "working as designed" is a lie, and they know it. They were working in December 2012 when trucks unveiled and some very early builds have them lit. If this is GM's stance, so be it. If they don't fix mine, I'll remember GM's attitude the next time we're vehicle shopping. Leave GM over $5.00 worth of resistors? Why not? Apparently the other $44,000 for the truck didn't matter to them. For a corporation to be "all new" since bankruptcy, it's beginning to look more and more like the same movie, just a different cast.

Service manager let me know this yesterday when he told me about the bad board, but since they started working on it for me in January, he said they would resolve it for customer satisfaction. If they weren't already working on it and this issue was just reported to him, I'm sure he would be following the new "guidance".
