The picture I posted was an example of a non dual climate truck, so there is no center knob. All five radio/ climate knobs in the Sierras and Silverados are supposed to be illuminated. Please see attached bulletin as to the direction of 2014 build vehicles. post-128264-0-64721000-1393371062_thumb.jpg

.......End of the day, it is minor, but principal that they are refusing to do the right thing when something isnt working properly.

Interesting. I think that is the first example that I've seen that had those two knobs illuminated, including those who have had the board replaced by GM. Perhaps there is a difference between dual climate and non-dual climate? Didn't the guy who tore his apart and figured out the resistors only replace the center? I don't feel like finding that thread now. Mine is going in on Friday to get the parts replaced, so I guess we'll see if mine work.

I was under that impression as well.

They are supposed to be lit up just as the radio knobs. See the bulletin I posted earlier , as well as all the early marketing material. A good friend of mine has an August build date and they are illuminated. attachicon.gif2014-GMC-Truck-Pictures.jpg

The Dual Zone HVAC temp knob does not lit up. Only single HVAC have them...

On your truck maybe, but many do, which is part of the reason for this entire thread. See post #1

Check out the link in post #9. I scrolled through briefly, and everyone who was fixed didn't have those backlit.

I went and checked a truck on the lot that had just come in from GM, and even it didn't have the two outside HVAC knobs lit, but the other three were.. So I tend to believe they were not meant to be lit.

I still think that paper that was posted a few threads up from GM is pretty bad. Inform the customer that they're vehicle is functioning correctly. Yeah right.. AKA: We didn't have the parts for their truck, so we shorted them, but oh well, that's what you get for buying our new stuff. I guess we should remember this, and avoid newly released GM vehicles until they can actually get everything together. This is how I feel the cell phone makers, and many other makers work now adays. No need to finish a product before release. Let the customer test it for us, and we'll better the later ones, at the early customer's expense. Okay, I'll end my rant now.

Either way, it sounds like they will be lit going forward (2014 build dates). There were early brochure pictures that show the outer two rings lit up however. Which is why some people were upset. post-128264-0-17602800-1393373909_thumb.jpg

At this point i don't even know which knobs are supposed to be lit up....thanks GM

Tell me about it, it looks like possibly all knobs? However even in that picture above, showing the radio and HVAC knobs lit up shows the middle HVAC NOT lit up, and we know those are lit.. This is almost laughable.. There will be trucks with all variations of knobs lit up on the road.. I guess as long as you get an even number you should be happy! I'm glad I don't have one of each lit up..

If I get mine repaired and they ALL light up, it'll be just short of a miracle. The large knobs on the auto climate control units are actually lit nicely without the rings. If they aren't lit after the repair, it won't bother me to the degree it would if I had the manual hvac controls. Kinda dresses it up a little.

Yeah, with the temperature ring around the inner edge already, it would seem kind of redundant to have another ring around the outside.
