I can tell you hopin to cash was given a brand new truck. I asked him personally. There were other details in the deal, but I don't think it's my place to say anything else.

Well hopefully it was a straight up trade brand new truck...last i talked to him, the dealer was trying to con him into paying a couple grand more for an identical truck over the change in price to which he found to be BS.

Can't believe there are people that would say it is ok for gm to treat customers differently by fixing some LEDs and not all. These people actually take the time to tell us, that want the fix,to accept it and move on. To me it is simple. If there is a problem make it right. Do the right thing gm fix it for those that want it. Problem solved!

Easier said than done and wishful thinking at this point...but hey if you want to write a letter to GM HQ to voice your displeasure of the matter and represent the rest of us with this issue...id give you a thumbs up.

My service tech scanned my truck today per GM request to get correct numbers off radio and hvac modules so they can order the correct ones. As I stated earlier, the rings weren't a big deal to me. However, GM's attitude toward some customers about refusing to fix under warranty is simply low-class. I'd wager less than half of truck buyers would even request they be fixed. If GM won't repair something as simple as this, I'd likely not get another GM vehicle when I am in the market again. All auto makers have issues, but when someone spends the kind of money these trucks cost, a couple hundred dollar fix on GM's part should not be an issue to have repaired and do right by the customers. They are losing market share and things like this won't help stop the bleeding and reverse course.

That being said, my dealer has been very honest with me and GM and it appears that GM will be replacing mine, per my request. I'll post any updates I get to help others in this situation.

Looks great, block8head!

The lease on my wife's car runs out in less than a year. You can bet that this issue will be a consideration when the time comes.

Had i have had this problem, i would Document this issue in detail; cite all references and pictures on here, owners manual, even outline that the LED lights arethere and how others have fixed it. Write this letter clearly and in great detail. Then open up a case with GM Customer (Non) Service. Get a case number created and then contact the executive office with that case number and escalate it too them.

If that does not get the job done, then you can send a "refusal to repair" letter to General Motors notifying them that if the issue is not addressed that you will Invoke your rights under law.

By law (in most states) they are required to repair the vehicle in a certain amount of time or purchase it back. (Check your states requirements; you may need to submit to arbitration first).

I would heavily cite the fact that the owners manuals were designed/written and printed well before your truck had actually been built, and show the illuminated display and that the lights are actually there. (Should be copyright dates in the owners manual)

(Also check your states laws- state lemon laws are not your only protection. Their are Consumer Protection Laws, general business laws as well as Magnuson-Moss act that may be pertainent too these issue).

Also- lets just say the Nav Display or climate control assembly failed; perhaps from Electrostatic Damage- i believe they would have to replace the entire assembly with the updated part.

This (took a dang hour to read) discussion is all about what people believe that they paid for. If I had walked out and looked at my truck and the backlights were not working after reading this thread then I would absolutely feel cheated and would think that the manufacture owed me working backlights. Luckily mine work just fine in my GMC now I must move on and see if I can find anything else that I can feel cheated about. Really enjoyed the part in the thread where the 2 guys were going at each other with personal attacks very entertaining made them both look like chocolate starfish LOL.

Did they fix the rings around the temp knobs, they don't seem to be on?

Those two are actually not supposed to have LEDs I believe.

Doesn't look like the lights are working around the Temp knobs, which is the main issue that many of the trucks are having.

They are supposed to be lit up just as the radio knobs. See the bulletin I posted earlier , as well as all the early marketing material. A good friend of mine has an August build date and they are illuminated. post-128264-0-11998800-1393368104_thumb.jpg
