Things you LIKE about your new truck?

Whoever said the 5.3 had "almost the same performance as the 6.2" must have been on crack!! There's NO COMPARISON...PERIOD!!!' Tapatalk via iPhone 5s

Yawn its a truck dude relax. I drove a 6.2 and it was OK but not needed unless you have a heavy towing need or are trying to impress someone (maybe little man syndrome?) If I was interested in speed I would not have bought a truck. Plenty of options out there in high performance vehicles that will dust your 6000lb trash hauler no matter what you do to it. Are you drinking heavily this evening? LOL

No I haven't but it sounds like maybe you have. Like I told another ass hat on this forum, sorry for having an opinion, my mistake.

Just because someone likes the bigger motor doesnt mean they have to make up for a lack of something, usually the people trying to make fun of people for it do though. I will more than likely buy a 6.2 just because its better to have the power when needed than not enough

Quote from LTZTOM "Whoever said the 5.3 had "almost the same performance as the 6.2" must have been on crack!!"

Hmm sure sounded like he made a personal attack? Why would anyone accuse someone that you do not know of using an illegal drug? I tried to explain to the big duff that I had drove both the 5.3 and 6.2 and I drove them A LOT. Go drive them both yourself before you form an opinion. I am thinking maybe Ole Tom might not have even driven a 5.3 and actually compare them? Then Ole Tom proceeds to call me an ass hat? I have some choice names for LTZTOM also but I will not type them in as they could burn up your computer screen. Nuff Said

This will be my last word on this matter...

Yes, I HAVE driven a '14 5.3L and, even though I was impressed with it's power, I decided to go with the 6.2L.

As for my "6000 pound trash truck", I couldn't be happier ("6.2 Envy" probably causes those who want one to make wild and irrational posts). I've owned fast cars and slow trucks but now I have a fast truck, the best of both worlds.

My initial statement concerning the performance comparison of the two engines wasn't directed at anybody in particular, although I must have hit a nerve with somebody, my apologies.

Additionally, I've never felt the need to "compensate" for any appendage...my wife would probably verify that.

Going forward, I'll try to keep from stirring the pot with more mundane posts so as not to "offend" those of you with the aforementioned 6.2 Envy.

Well, so now we know a 6.2 has more power than a 5.3. Oh, we already knew that. Is the 5.3 adequate for most of our needs? I think we know that too. Is a 6.2 cool to have? I think so. Would I use that extra power enough to justify the extra cost? I wouldn't, but your needs may differ. I haul grandkids more than anything else so the 5.3s power and the comfort of my LTZ are "Things I like about my new truck." If you like your 6.2s power or just knowing that your truck is faster than mine that's fine, however my motorcycle is way faster than your truck. Now someone will probably post that his motorcycle is faster than mine. Who cares. Enjoy your trucks!

I agree.. I don't even know why there is an argument about this. The 5.3 is a great motor and is adequate for moderate towing and DD needs. Has some kick to it, not a bad motor at all. Obviously the 6.2 is more powerful, and faster, again a great motor. You pay more money for the 6.2 but worth it for someone who would enjoy the bigger motor..

I like my 5.3 engine. I have not driven the 6.2 and I imagine it has to be a great engine but I have no need for it. Hell I barely have a need for a truck.

But enough of that. What I love of my truck is that it is my first truck!!!

That being said I love the large power folding mirrors. I love the crew cab back seats are so large and have leg rooms. I like being so high up. I enjoy all the usb ports.

I find this truck is so refined that I feel the need to drive it more calmly than I did my Ford.

I remember as a young driver going back and driving my dad's Caddy vs. my Corolla. Drove that little Toyota like I stole it. Could get "scratch" in three gears and even though it was slow as molasses, I drove it like it was a Porsche. Then I would drive my dad's Caddy. V-8, fuel injected and actually quite the mover......drove it like I was in a funeral most times.....just loved to cruise in that car.

Now I have to drive my daughters Sonata to even think something is sporty! LOL.

The 5.3L seems plenty good for my flat land use. The 6.2L was cool to drive. Wish both had more tip in response.

Love my truck.

Yeah... I've got that ^ . But still coming from my 04 5.3L lifted z71 with small wheels and big tires this new truck is a completely different animal. It has all the power I want or need, right up to when I'm trying to pass someone on a 2 lane 70mph hwy. Then I start to miss my 03 duramax, completely stock apart from the tuner, sporting north of 300k miles. It got 25mpg avg and once beat some nerd in his "GT" mustang in a pissed off drag race, which was hilarious. Sadly it's head gaskets must have disagreed... The moral of this story? There isn't one. But I would have liked to have gotten a 6.2, however, if I wanted a "fast truck" I'd go with a diesel and a tuner any day of the week, it may blow it's head gaskets after 340,000 miles of hot rodding it everywhere constantly, but I bet there are quite a few that would beat any tuned 6.2 or supercharged 5.3. Supercharged 6.2? Don't know but I bet that would be awesome to have in a truck

Don't disagree one bit. I'm not sure what point You are trying to make. I'm simply stating a mod, any mod shouldn't reduce themselves to the level of the posters they are trying to regulate. If so watch the boards go to hell.

Last comment I'll make on this as this isn't about KMZ anymore, I'll take it to PM from here on out, but any mod should be open to feedback from the members....period dot...mods are not above the rules...now let's remain calm and carry on....loving the truck....especially the interior.

Or how about don't be a moderator if you don't like the scrutiny?

Or you could find something better to do then get upset and start crying because I jokingly called someone a child.. When did I say anything about being scrutinized?

And you can PM me if you have any more issues with what post or say, I'd really appreciate if you would keep me in line and make sure I don't say anything wrong.

And I'm going to clean up all of the useless posts.

    • We have now!  2027 GMC Sierra  Early look, but I'm a GMC guy and so far I think I like the looks of the Chevy better.
    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
