March Pricing

Starting a new thread instead of hikacking the price paid thread any further.

There are two big discounts this month: Truck month cash and Truck month discount.

I have spoken to three dealers this week that have all told me that the truck month discount is a discount the dealer agreed to offer and it is essentially supplier pricing. I get that but they are all telling me that they do not get that money back from GM and essentially they are selling the trucks close to invoice and making money on the hold back.

I have been trying to get them to negotiate MSRP and then drop the two discounts and none of them will budge saying the truck month discount is the mark down from the dealer.

Arggggggg

I don't know why these dealers act like "Supplier" pricing is so great its like what 7-8 Hundred OVER invoice? I know how holdback works. I worked in dealerships. in theory the "Holdback money" on a particular vehicle is spent on interest within a few months. in reality it is kept on that vehicle and shown as profit no matter when it is sold.... shop around and you'll find a dealer willing to make half their hold back and sell you a truck below invoice....

They are basically telling you the truth about the incentives.... the truck month discount is not credited back to the dealer by GM, but it doesn't need to be, as they were never paying full MSRP for the vehicle to begin with.

Despite what the dealers want you to think.... the invoice price shown on a GM factory invoice sheet is not in any way indicative of the actual price they are paying for these vehicles. Those times have long since passed.

Now these invoice sheets are just another selling tool by GM and the dealers.

Supplier price should be Invoice Price + $150 (program fee).

Forget about calling it a specific discount/rebate.

Figure out the bottom line you can live with and tell them it's their problem to determine how to make the paperwork to arrive at your agree purchase price.

They like nothing better than the buyer accepting the advertised 'discount/rebate'.

The price is whatever you and the dealer agree.

I'm getting the same issues as well.. None of them are coming off the final March Open House Event pricing.

It's the "advertise" pricing for crying out loud and they're acting like they're losing money and can't take a penny more off.

I have only been calling though -- haven't gone in person to a single dealer.

A coworker of mine is shopping for a new Silverado as well. He's getting the same vibe from 4 different dealers around here and Denver. Most off MSRP is $7500 and no one is accepting Employee Price offers.

Most I've found is $7050.. And neither dealer I've dealt with will budge. Little confused why it's so difficult to get just a grand or two more off?

Is this pricing really the absolute best you could get this time of year..?

You're whining about only $7k off? Stop being so cheap and the buy the dang truck. Next we'll see a thread complaining about crappy resale.

That $7k off is an ADVERTISED price! Zero negotiations from "asking" price just isn't right in the new-car buying world.. I was able to get $10k off my "$8000 off" Sierra and my wife was able to get $9k off her "$6000 off" Yukon.

So ultimately, being "whiney" gave us both over $7k in positive equity in both our vehicles -- meaning I'm extremely happy about my resell.

Keep trying, you'll find a dealer that wants a sale. If you go to the GM site and start building a truck, eventually you will get a popup offer for another $1K off, which is legit but does not stack with loyalty discount. If it is carshow month in your area, that is another $500 off.

Search online for a dealer that has excess inventory as they may be more eager to move.

You may need to wait until the end of the month to get the best deal. The dealership typically has to sell X amount of vehicle to maintain a dealership level status. Kinda like the biggest sales dealership badge.

February is usually the best since its the shortest month and sales goals aren't reduced.

I shopped through the internet pricing function of the dealership. I don't enjoy sitting there waiting for the salesman to walk my deal to the sales manager.

I was made a deal with half of the hold back money included, over 5k total off MSRP out the door!

Keep at it, one will blink first.

Are you guys telling the dealer that another dealer is offering the same price? Whenever I did that, they always lowered their price to beat the competing dealer. You have to make them compete for your business. I ended up having to go to a dealer out of state, and 300 miles away to make my deal. Once I located the exact truck I wanted, I gave all the local dealer a chance to give me their best price on that truck. I didn't care if they went out and did a trade for the truck, or found one identical... They all gave me quotes. Then I took the lowest one and recirculated that offer to all the dealers again asking if any of them could do even better. Which several did lower their prices. Then I took that new lower price and contacted all the big auto mall type dealers within 400 miles. The biggest dealer in the next state away beat all offers by quite a bit. I drove the 300 miles and signed the papers on the last day of the month.

They didn't budge much on the price of the truck, instead ended up giving me more for my trade in. Bought a 2014 LTZ Crewcab 4x2 with everything except the driver assist garbage and a sunroof. Truck stickered at 48 and the vehicle price after negotiations was 43886. They gave me 27.3k for my 2010 tundra trade in that I owed 12 on.

I started at a multi brand large dealer company. I told them I wanted 60 mos and 500 a month. They started me off at 550 and I haggled em down to 515 and walked. They called me the next day and said they'd do 500.

That day I went to a local privately owned dealership where my family's been buying cars since the 70's. I took their printed offer in and told em I wanted the same truck for less. They spent a day and a half, got a truck in from across the state with exactly what I wanted on it, and finally got it down to 490/60mo. Lastly I haggled the finance guy and got a half a point lower interest rate than the initial 2.5 offered. Bottom dollar 485/60 mos, 43886 truck price.

The point being, they didn't come off the truck more than the two incentives.
