just had my new 275/65R20 Mastercraft tires mounted on my factory rims, they rub a little at full turn.  hopefully when I get the adjustable bilsteins put on, that will eliminate the rubbing

Looks great! Love the white letters. MasterCraft tires seem to be decent quality. ( Think it's a Cooper company) plus they have a nice square contact patch instead of bulging sidewalls and a narrow tread.

yes, they roll off the same line as the cooper discoverer tires as well as the Hercules brand tires...plus the mastercrafts were only $200 each compared to the coopers at $260-280.  I got the E load tires as I tow a 6500lb travel travel and these should eliminate some of the side to side flex.

Looks great! Did you have to trim your wheels studs with the 1.5" spacers?

Nice. I've had two sets of Stock 20's and 1 set of 18" that didn't have enough room in the pockets ( recessed areas in the wheel) to clear the studs. Go figure I found the ones that wouldn't work lol.

2" RC level, 295/70/17 nitto Terra grappler G2. Little bit of rubbing on the plastic and felt liner in the back, but don't have trim any metal!

305/55/20 Toyo OC AT2s on stock 20s with 2in RC level. A little rubbing on the fender lining but I just got spacers so that should help!

I've got a 2017 Silverado 1500 Double Cab and i'm looking to put on Fuel D576 Assault Wheels, 20x10 with a -18 offset. The tires will be Toyo Open Country R/T (good blend between A/T and M/T) 35X12.50R20LT.

 

I'm wondering a few things here that i'm hoping you guys can help me out with.

 

  1. Am I shooting for tires too big? Should i go with the 33's instead?
  2. For the 35's, or 33's if im shooting too high, whats the ideal lift i should get?
  3. Once #1 and #2 are taken care of, what do i need to worry about? Will it rub anywhere? do i need a steering stabilizer? 

 

I'm sparkling brand new to wheels and tires so i know very little. I was originally going to get a $125 lift and level kit from MotoFab (3" front 2" back) but now i'm looking more towards the $1000 range.  

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Well bro if your dead set on 35's then you looking at nothing short of a 6 inch lift. If you decide on the 33's you'll rub with a -18 offset. Nothing a 2 1/2 lvl and some minor trimming wouldn't fix.

I've been doing more research and it seems like a 6" lift might be more trouble than its worth, mostly because i have a boat i tow often every summer. I'm finding i'd need to do something with the gears and axles or something, thats all brand new territory for me.

 

I originally started down this road when i wanted to level the truck because it wasnt super expensive, but then i found a motofab 3" lift in the front with a 2" lift in the back for the same price as the level i was going to get, but found that was maxing out the upper control arms and started looking at a 3-4 inch lift, but found 6" lifts were a little more, but need steering stabilizers and leafs and all sorts of other stuff.

 

So now i'm thinking a 3-4 inch lift. Will i have the same issues with this as i would a 6" lift?

 

And back to wheels and tires, anyone using 20x9 or 20x10 Fuel Assaults on a 2017 Silverado 1500? Which one, which offset, and how far do they stick out passed the fender? Are spacers needed? Which tires are you running?

    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.  
    • Thank You.   So far my new ride is making me look like a genius for going with the 3.0L, as my first fuel refill occurred over three weeks from when I took delivery.  This engine combination is very amazing.  So far no issues and had not done a regen yet.
    • I am curious as to how much fluid you put back in the transmission ( assuming you had replaced the filter to compare to my findings ) and then went through the process of warming up the trans before pulling the check plug to drain out the excess and if you measured how much came back out.    I just found it surprising that some claimed a certain amount less fluid being put in and then draining some back out. The attitude of the truck as per if the surface is level and how the trucks stance is would make quite a difference since the check plug is right at the front of the transmission.
