I am extremely happy with my 14 Silverado LTZ. Wish I would have bought the 6.2 version but other them that this is leaps and bounds over my 2011 and way better the the rental fords and dodges I have driven. If you are so unhappy about your truck then maybe you will be happier with the ford. Good luck with that...

Call me crazy, but it doesn't bother me one bit when someone voices their displeasure with these new trucks. I've owned both Ford and GM vehicles and realize that neither make is perfect, but I understand people's frustration. Neither Ford nor GM pay my bill's so I feel no need to go off on someone for stating their opinion. No fanboy here.

There's a difference between voicing and pointing out legitimate concerns and hapless bitching. A truck that leaves you stranded is a concern, the lack of an ass massager is...well you can figure it out.

The post is only heated due to the excessive WHINING about misperceived features.

 

There are plenty of legitimate issues to raise about these trucks. None of them are in this post.

Exactly. Who buys a $48,000 vehicle without taking a thorough test drive and testing out the various options?

 

OP: Last time I checked the mirrors don't auto-fold on the F-150. Not even on the Platinum or King Ranch, you have to press a button (actually pull back on a toggle-like switch) just like on a GM. I've driven more than a few of them.

Exactly. My friend has a new Platinum Ford. We have been comparing our luxury features for fun. He dinged his right side mirror backing out of his carport. When he showed me, I hit the key fob and folded in my mirrors and asked if his did that. His don't automatically fold in, nor do mine. I don't see a purpose for that anyway. If they automatically folded out they would still have hit his carport. Does the OP expect them to fold automatically when they get too close to an object?

 

Mine are automatic! They automatically go back to where I had them adjusted if I return my seat position hitting the button on the door which controls that. They automatically adjust, which is a convenient and useful feature. They don't auto fold which would be a nuisance and useless feature.

 

As for this getting "heated" the OP kind of set the tone with the "Government Motors" crack. All I'm saying is that the LTZ mirrors are in fact automatic, and I hope the OP benefited from the information we provided as I have benefited from information others have provided.

The mirrors don't auto fold in/out because it requires some judgment on when to use that feature. If say you need to park in a spot with a pillar next to it, so you fold em in and back up and park. Well when you go to start it up, you certainly don't want them automatically unfolding. Same story if you park in an empty spot and someone parks up close next to you after the fact. You don't want your mirror folding out and hitting the other car do you? The whole point is you have the control over when to fold them, not the vehicle. I appreciate that they designed it this way.

do you want the truck to drive itself? Go buy a ford and whine on their forums OP. If you hated the truck so much then why the hell did you buy it, and since when folding mirrors become such a huge deal. Guess this is one of those things where you cant please everyone.

      How many years have I pointed out every point in that link to the folks here and been avalanched with criticisms and outright hostilities at times? I ran counter to even the great CUSTOMBOSS and Lake Speed Jr and the half dozen experts on YouTube and in the final.....GM, Physics (Stribeck) backs that Grumpy old Bear.    Honestly, I never said a thing engineering hadn't studied silly and laid in concrete during WWII. But I'm old, the information is old and yet, the Laws of Physics are eternal.    Okay there is one exception. I vehemently disagree with their use of the word 'tolerances' when what it meant is "clearance".   The clearance is the distance between two objects. The tolerance is the degree of acceptable variation permitted in that clearance. I.E., piston to bore clearance is 0.004" with a tolerance of +/- .0002" so the clearance is in specification if it lies between 0.0038" and 0.0042". Cutting that 'tolerance in half has ZERO impact on lubrication requirements. Makes for more difficulty in manufacturing.  But a tighter clearance 'MAY'. Depends on finish. Anyway....   It's one of those statements made by people to make themselves look smarter than they are to convince people who are as un-enlighten as they seem to manipulate their behaviors. But hey, the blind leading the blind puts them both in the pit.

      Out and about yesterday on a long Saturday drive I passed a lot of Shell stations. My preferred, so I pay attention. Lot's of small town Illinois so not six stations in three blocks like the city.    Everyone of them over a radius of say 100 miles had regular at $4.19 but one which was the one closest to home at $4.15. However Premium pricing varied greatly between 85 cents over regular to $1.50 over. I'm not counting the price of the station with the lowest regular so the reference is the same for the remainder and all within the same brand. However the spread discrepancy holds across all brands.     @txab, any thoughts on that?

      What are your thoughts? The Chevy Blazer relaunch was an epic case of 'lunchbag letdown'. Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos stick out like a sore thumb.    The AI photos do not look like a 'retro version', but shrunken Tahoes. Get away from the 'futuristic look'. I've seen two concepts. One had rectangular headlight like a Rivian and the other way too big headlights (similar to a previous non-Wrangler SUV) should include dual round headlights like the early version.   If not this would look OK   At least it has GM styling (albeit the K2XX) A lot of the images floating around look like Bronco IIs or the current Bronco. Looking at the Broncos in my area (central Ontario, it seems to be a mix of 2 doors and 4 doors, 'mall rated' to ones that could go offroad.    I'm sure a AT4 and AT4X RPOs could be outfitted similar to a Rubicon if the braintrust understood the whole offroad scene. Crossing my fingers that if it does see the light that the front air dam/bumper doesn't extend below the center line of the tire...
