I fall in love with my truck everytime I mash the go pedal! So yesterday I got a lil anxious.. Hit the TC off button.. Coast was clear so I proceeded to do a U-turn. Almost full turn through I mashed the pedal, it ripped the tires loose, slid the rear out a little so I let off the steering wheel to allow it to straighten up, hit second and kept on burning almost all the way through!! Are you kidding me!! I love a vehicle with some nuts! :driving:

On the technical note.. I would have thought the torque management would have kicked in and killed 2nd gear but it hit and kept on.. It's got to be wild with a tune!! Also I haven't tried it yet but is there a throttle stop kill on these if one was to power brake a burnout?? I thought I recall GM using this in their programming.

Even the 5.3 on E85 doesn't need any brake torque to turn them loose. What is really nice is you can get on it even with the TC on it will still supply power without a total shut down like in the past. My old trail blazer ss would just stop in the middle of the road if you forgot to turn off the TC. If it wasn't raining that was the first button I hit on start up.

Couldn't agree more! The icing on the cake to all that is the sweet....sweet sound of the motor up front. Man it sounds good rippin past 5K RPM. I haven't had a truck require so much self control since my tuned DMax :D It's killing me not to throw an exhaust on this thing and hit up BlackBear for a tune. I really should have someone block the Engine/Drivetrain section on this board. Every time I come in here I start thinking goofy. Haha

Haha, Nice! Yeah my Old SS was a dud before tuning but even with a tune it still didn't burn them down like this. Lol

Got my Airaid intake today... waiting on my catch can and will install. Black Bear tuner sitting in the back seat... after intake is on I will start logging and expect to be amazed right after the fourth! I had the 6.2L in my G8 but it feels so much more powerful on this truck!

Damn another G8, TB SS, 2014 truck owner.. I've seen several on here. Seems like a pretty common theme of GM owners here! I'm one as well! LOL

LOL! I was thinking the same thing when I joined up... a lot of these names are familar! I was talking with GTPprix about that in messenger just the other day. Seems like those of us that have owned several GM performance vehicles think alike! Still have my TBSS, and it still turns heads! I traded my G8 GXP with 8000 miles for this truck. I hated to part with it, a rare car that was a blast to drive, but I needed something more "practical" (practical = new toy).

Same here.. My SS was towards the G8, then G8 toward my truck. Hated to get rid of the G8 as I absolutely loved that car. I had mine up to GXP spec with swaybars, the CTSV brembo's, a few hp goodies to get power around the 415.. just broke the 40K mile mark but she was garaged and kept in mint condition. A friend of mine was begging to buy it. It was time for me to get a truck and this was the closest thing I could get to satisfy my power needs coming from that car! I was sooo close to buying an Ecoboost F150 til I drove it though! I'm so glad I stayed in the GM family just for reasons above! :driving:

I went wayyy off the beaten path...

I went from heavily modded sSS to a F150 Tuned Ecoboost and mildly modded, to the 2014 5.3L Silverado with very minor tweaks, lol.

---I'm surprised by the 5.3L.....but man I envy you guys and the 6.2L

    • Did you ever get this worked out? Mike is doing the two start thing now too. This is after a new camera back in December.
    • I’m doing an experiment on a vehicle I don’t have much money in. I’m going by the premise that after they last 100K miles they were no mechanical problems with assembly. Or defects with the parts. With oil changes by the minder for the first 127K miles when I acquired it. I quickly went through low mileage oil changes then settled on 5k oil changes with close to 170K miles on the vehicle currently. I did have the option to turn off the cylinder deactivation. I didn’t on this vehicle because it’s in ECONOMY mode at least half the time. It should be a no brainer frequent oil changes are the key. The manufacturer gets away with the long oil changes with its severe service  maintenance. Just ask them what is normal.
    • Even set to "recirculated", the air pushes out and is hot. I have noticed that sometime it doesn't want to switch between recirculated/vented air. Say it is set to Circulated Air and I want to switch to Vented, when I click the Vented button, it just quickly lights up/clicks and immediatly switches back to Circulated. It's done this a few times now. So maybe it is an actuator getting stuck? But then, that doesn't explain the hot air when everything is off does it?
    • I wonder what the price is out at the coast, Big Sur or other out of the way locations as I bet they are charging quite a premium over the in land pumps.
    • Were you looking at the HD trucks on the GM website or the half tons as that makes all the difference. As far as I know there are only two options for the HD trucks and that is the standard 2 speed transfer case or the 2 speed transfer case that has the added 4 high auto feature and they put that transfer case by default into the LTZ and High Country although its optional in the LT and not sure if its available in the work trucks.    The half tons, that is where its been a total mess in my estimation for a few years now with most trucks below the top trim having the single speed transfer case as standard but with the option of having the two speed such as one would get by choosing the Z71 package, however then not being able to get the two speed transfer case with the towing package unless it was a higher trim truck AND had the 6.2 gas so one could combine the towing package gearing diffs with the two speed transfer case. Having said that if its a trail boss package then it gets the two speed transfer case but not necessarily able to get the tow package as it would depend on trim level and engine chosen. Believe me, people have bought the GM half tons assuming "of course it will have a two speed transfer case" only to find out after when they really pay attention to what they now own .... crap, there is NO low range !.    I don't believe Ford or Ram have gone that way yet with their half tons but like I say its been a few years now that GM has done this with the half tons.
