No Did you orient the diode in the correct direction?

Yeah the diode was in the correct direction. My guess is during the day, in auto light control, you can not turn on the brights by pushing forward on the lever. Works perfectly at night time.

Be careful about the terminology. There is a "Headlamp signal" and a Left and Right "... Headlamp Low Beam Supply Voltage". My guess is that the "Headlamp Signal" is from the switch on the dash, which I don't think will do what you want as it is likely a ground.

I think you want to tap the "... (L or R) Headlamp Low Beam Supply Voltage" in connector X4, which is the black connector.

It's always a good idea to verify the circuit you tap with a voltmeter or light, in this case while turning on and off the low beams.

after reading this, im curious f i could disable DRL in main beam by unplugging pin #7 this would eliminate the need for a wiring harness for HIDS, just always on when headlights on at full voltage.

besides this,

has anyone found out a way to control the fogs when highs are on? or is it just controllable wit lows but always on with highs?

I think a relay harness is still desireable with HID. The in-rush of current during start-up is the concern.

I haven't looked into this.

Finally got my Epistar LEDs installed. Total cost, just under $300. Fantastic (high beam) lighting.

I like this idea. I'll have to pull pin 7 in X5 for the right side since I connected there. Next time I'm working on it with time. I'll try pulling it. If they are not running for DRL I can start using the entry and exit lighting again with less impact on life. Well at least the entry lighting, the exit lighting annoys me a little some times.

does anyone have the diagram for the sle model trucks? im pretty sure this is the slt(led markers) diagram, Ive been trying to disable the drls and auto lights but the wires in x5 and x4 for the drls are not there on my sle..which leads me to believe the diagrams on up fitter are for the slt.

There is no wire on the headlight plug for DRL's on the SLE. May have to be done from the BCM. As you know there isn't a fuse for the DRL's on the '14 models. If you figure out how to do it please let me know.

I've found not all of the diagrams line up with actual trucks, so I doubt it's the SLE and SLT are wired different and more so the free diagrams are wrong.

what is it exactly in the truck, that when high beams are turned on tells te fogs to turn off?

is it programming or a relay?

Can you provide more specifics? Bulb number, retailer, etc..

Spurshot-

Infinteoffroad.com supplied two Epistar 36 watt units locally installed. Mounted behind grill on each side of GMC. Installation estimated at $150, billed same in spite of 6 hour actual taken.

Units come on w/high beams and do what GM should have done. Great lighting.
