I couldn't find the high beams at the fuse box, so I tapped them at the headlight.

Ah. Where at in the headlight? Just curious since it a single bulb. Never messed with it before. I've done it on a set up with a dedicated low and a dedicated high before.

I poked around with a volt meter on the side where all the wires go in, until I found the high beam trigger.

If you tie in some high powered driving lights or a light bar to your fog lights, you won't need to run wire thru the firewall and add switches to your dash. Very clean way to go in my opinion. With that setup, you hit the highs and all the lights and light bars, etc come on, then shut off when dimming the highs. Very slick.

If you have the 10-18 diode, do you lose your fogs on dim then? I want my fogs on with brights, dims, and I also run them whenever driving with the SLE daytime running lights that are on whenever the truck is in a gear other than park.

With the 10-18 jump, the OEM fog switch will still turn the fogs off and on when in the "Auto" mode or manual mode whether the daytime (DRL mode) or nighttime (auto low beams) are on, Basically, all manual control in any mode except below.

When the high beams are turned on with the turn signal lever, the fog circuit is energized and the fogs and whatever you have tied to it come on. If the fogs were off prior to turning on the high beams, they'll go off when dimming the high beams. If the fogs were on before the high beams were turned on, they will remain on when dimming the high beams.

Thank you. I guess I better get with the program then!

I have had the IN4004 diodes from Radio Shack since July 22nd. I wish I had done this before my trip out West now. It would have been helpful on those switchbacks and curves at night. I was just waiting to make sure none of these light mods turned our trucks into Christine, with a mind of it's own.

My uncle had a caddy that went Christine on him. Turning on anything electrical was "like a box of chocolates, you never knew what you were going to get".

You might look into the XB LED fog lights from TRS. I bought a set thru a group buy over on their forum for $120. They are 5000K and about 1200 lumens or 2 1/2 times as bright as the factory fogs. Not too bright to run on the street, yet helpful in the boonies. They are 3 1/2" diameter vs. the factory fogs 4" diameter.

I haven't installed mine yet. Too many other things going on in my life right now.

Thanks, but if I change them out, I want something plug & play.

Spurshot or anyone - I purchased a pair of LED strips to mount behind my 14 Sierra grill with the understanding that the dealer would install. Now they refuse. (I'm in the Twin Cities, MN area.) Anyone know of a dependable installer to contact?

What exactly are you installing? Just regular LED strips on a flexible circuit board. Or are you talking about LED light bars like this

Two Epistar 36W (what they call strips- I'd call 'em boxes). They come with a remote control and I ordered a wiring kit. Want to wire into the high beams (projector lamps) if possible. If not, I suppose I'd just hot wire and control with the remote.
