I should have driven my 2500 Denali at night before purchasing

There are many things I love about my new 2015 GMC Denali 2500HD but the headlights are not one of them. I mistakenly thought that because my mid $60k truck was about the same price as my neighbors mid $60k Yukon, both being Denalis and his with HID projectors, that my truck would have the same lights. WRONG! I can't believe that vehicles driven on dirt roads in poorly lit areas get out of date technology when vehicles rarely driven outside well lit urban areas get them. There are so many other things given careful thought in this truck but the headlights and the ugly tow mirrors look like parts of the project that got behind schedule. The headlights in my $65,000 truck are awful and a safety issue in my opinion. So I guess my truck is sort of a Denali if you compare it to the Yukon and Yukon XL Denalis.

Trucks do not have HID's and projectors, the SUV's do. But all GMC trucks do have projectors. And drom what I have seen all Chevy HD's have projectors.

The only GMT-900 vehicle that had HID's was the Escalade.

Halogen projectors that are pathetic. I am going to replace the halogens with HIDs tomorrow.

Order some from DDM Tuning. You need a 9006. You most likey will not be able to use the Yukon setup. If you do figute figure it out, it will be a waste of a lot of time and money

First off GM doesn't know where your truck is going to live country, city etc. Cant believe people complain about headlights on newer vehicles, how in the hell did we drive back in the day of sealed beam headlights. Unreal.

My 15 2500HD has Halogen projectors and I can see into next year.

I got 35W HIDs installed leaving the projector lenses in place. Huge improvement so I am happy now.

Where did you buy them and were they plug and play? did you have to modify anything?

I used an installer that was listed on the retrosource web site that is in DFW. They did a great job and used morimoto ballasts. It took them 2 hours but that include aligning the beams so I am legal. I don't know what was involved.

My headlights are good but not great. Before I go with the HID set up I am going to try some 5000k Xenon bulbs from Ebay for the low beams. They are fairly cheap. Had good luck with them in my Avalanche and GTO.

The factory headlights in the 15's are huge improvement over those in the older 800's.

Got to say I agree with the original post 100%. Picked up my new truck during the week. While the high beams are adequate, there is no doubt they are step down from my 2011 Silverado. Is a disappointment.
