I put 5W20 in my 2007 4.8L instead of 5W30. I change the oil every 5,000 miles. Do I need to drain and replace, or can I leave it for 5,000 miles? Just grabbed the wrong bottle by accident. Doh!!

You put in 1 qt or 6? If 1qt I'd leave it. If 6 qts, I'd probably still leave it depending on the brand/type of oil. I've seen oil reports showing quality synthetic 5w-20 did as well as the 5w-30 in the same engine. I'm sure some will disagree

Bottom line, do what makes you feel comfortable. It's your truck

5 qts 5W20, 1 qt 5W30. Castrol GTX conventional oil. Bosch oil filter if that makes a difference. 95K on the engine.

I wouldn't worry about it if it where my truck.

Ford did their backspec thing in the early 2000's with switching cars that originally came with 5w30 to 5w20 for better fuel economy. Seemed to work fine for them.

I also vote leave it until next oil change. You might want to check it more often, but I do not believe you will have an oil consumption issue.

^^^^ What he said.

I changed it. Probably would have been fine. But why worry about $23 and a little effort vs. abnormal wear on a $4K engine.

That's what I would have done, cheap insurance.

If your oil pressure is normal at idle when well warmed up, it will be fine at any higher speed. I doubt you'd have seen any difference in consumption.

Let's all tell him it would be fine.

Sure leave it.

No problems , you'll be fine.

Then after he changes it...

Yea, that's what I would have done.

Good thing you changed it.

I am glad you changed it, you'll have peace of mind.

LOL....
