Broke my driver side mirror ! :-(

The glass on both of my side mirrors was stolen from my 2015 sierra slt z71 this week. Fortunately they didnt damage any of the housing components. I already ordered new ones which set me back about 500 bucks for the pair. Is this something easy to install or should i cough up the 220 dollar labor fee at the dealer?

That sucks.Should be a pretty easy install. Save your bucks and give it a shot.

I did the same thing. I bought my replacement from gmpartsshop.com

Yes you need to replace the whole thing. There is also a utube video showing step by step how to do it.

there is some goofy mounting ring that typically breaks off the motor when they steal the glass. only way to get it is to replace the motor as well. they claimed it is pretty easy to snap off the tabs on the mirrors during install but that is probably a scare tactic to get more bux out of customers that have already spent $600+ on glass and motors.

I am having trouble getting the round piece of plastic off. I didn't realize that one comes already attached to the motor. Did you guys have any issues? I am being a little careful as i do not want to break the glass. Here is a pic below.

I didn't think the passenger side mirror had auto-dim. Am I wrong? I have rear view and driver's side in my SLT All Terrain that dim, but not the passenger side...

Auto Dim is only on Driver's Side.

For anyone that has removed the mirror glass, how hard is it to do so without ruining the tabs holding it in place? I somehow managed to get some fine scratches on the glass on the passenger side and removing them only made it worse so because of my OCD I intend to replace the glass piece itself. Any tips or suggestions appreciated.

Link doesn't work, also said the video was removed by user when I put the normal youtu.be format.

Also, $500 for just the glass on the mirrors?!?

Like above, I backed into my garage support and hit my driver side mirror. The mirror is intact and has the ring attached from the broken motor. The front portion of the mirror assembly and cap are not broken but there is a plastic "bezel" cracked badly that goes around the edge of the housing/mirror and is the back portion of the mirror assembly arm. Does anyone know if I can purchase just the plastic bezel that faces to the rear on the assembly. I will need to replace that and the motor assembly. Any suggestions on getting off the ring/portion of the motor assembly that is still attached on the back of the mirror/glass?

I did the exact same thing today with similar damage to the housing but on my passenger side. I am also having trouble getting the ring off the mirror, but at least my motor is intact. It appears that in order to replace the mirror housing, you need to buy the entire unit. If I'm going to spend the money, I will probably take this opportunity to upgrade from the DL8 mirrors to the DL3. I can justify it by believing that power folding mirrors mean no more hitting the garage..

Just did the same thing. Ordered the $50 motor, hopefully it will work out well.

Long shot since it has been a few years since these posts but here goes- where did you get the side mirror glass replacements that already have that ring attached to them? Someone stole my mirrors this week and I need glass that has that ring on them to mount into my assembly. The circle with the little levers that move the mirror is what was left behind. If you happen to get this please email me at ashleyacreane at g mail dot come thx so much!
