Better Front Strut Options?

Are there any other options other then the factory front struts for our trucks? My truck does get used offroad quite a bit, as well as on the street as a daily, was just looking for an all around better ride, I have the Ready Lift 4 In Lift and I hate seeing the stock black strut in there with it.

Also whats out there for the rear shocks? Not looking to break the bank on this either otherwise I'd of gotten those nice FOX Coil Overs haha

Thanks

King makes a coilover assembly for this truck. Probably Fox too. Both are bound to be colorful if that's your requirement.

Rancho makes a coilover assembly as well. I don't recall the color combination.

Why not just paint the stock coilover?

BTW, they are not "struts". That's like calling a camshaft a crankshaft.

IMO, go with the Bilstein 5100's and not break the bank. Good shocks all around.

Unfortunately the Bilstein's for the front are not out. They have been saying in a couple of months since March.

That's and the factory spring and perch are all still going to be black.

You do get that shiny piece through the middle though with a pretty blue sticker, ha.

Wonder what they are changing? It looks like FOX, know for a fact Pro Comp and Camburg all use the same ones they did for the 13 model year.

Fox has so much adjustment that it's just a matter of physically fitting with their stuff.

I think Bilstein is doing different valving.

I'm really anxious to see what they come up with. I like their last model's valving in my 08 GMT900. I'm not fond of the valving in my OEM Rancho shocks. They seem to "stack" easily.

Spurshot, what does the term 'stack' refer to in the shock world. Does it have something to do with rebound and losing the control?

I vote with you on the 5100s and agree they must be changing the valves as the 2014s seem to have heaver/stiffer springs.

In the GM marketing crap they claimed the suspension was stiffened by 30% for 2014. I'm guessing the 5100's had to be re-tuned and it's taking forever haha.

I thought they claim the frame was stiffened, not the suspension.

"The coil-over-shock front suspension features aluminum upper and lower control arms on many models that are both lighter and stiffer than previous components, along with front springs are up to 30 percent stiffer than those on current models, for more confident handling."

I have the old style 5100's on mine and they aren't bad--overall way better than the Ranchos. I do think they could use a bit more low speed rebound though. If they do that for the 2014's I'll probably swap eventually.

I have an all terrain now with the rancho shocks and struts and they are bouncy. Wait for the Bilsteins. It will be worth the wait.

"Stacking" is a term that refers to the shock absorber effective damping limiting the suspension travel at an undesirable rate, especially when rapid suspension movement occurs.
