Leaf Spring Squeaks/Creeks-2014 1500

I am having what I believe to be the same issue. 2014 Silverado 1500 with 18k miles. Noticed the noise at first during winter on uneven terrain. Could hear creaking / squeaking in the rear loud enough that my passengers noticed and commented on it. Dealer could not replicate the problem or find anything loose our out of spec in the rear of the truck. The creaking noise is worse after rain or in the cold. Tried a second dealership who also said they couldn't replicate the noise. Now I just live with an irritating noise in an otherwise quiet truck. Visited dealer for routine maintenance today and discussed again. Asked if there was any TSB on leaf springs. Not at this time I guess. Seems strange to me. Have never owned or ridden in any truck this new to have noises like this. I can't imagine how GM considers this normal or not a defect somehow. If they don't come up with a solution for it, I have an easy one. I will go trade it for another brand.

Not sure how you guys have faired with this issue, but I have started having the issue myself. After doing some research, I found these leaf spring pads. They are designed to prevent/stop leaf springs rubbing. I have just ordered a set so once I get them installed I'll report back.

Have any of you guys even bothered to get a torque wrench and check the leaf spring u-bolt nuts? If they're even a little loose you're going to get a lot of noise. I had a couple that weren't as tight as the rest when I installed my rear lift blocks.

Boy sounds like someone is reading my mail. I have 2014 Sierra Z71 and the hollow clunking/thumping noise in the back is driving me crazy. As with other post, mine gets considerably worse when it rains. Finally found a dealership service tech that has heard this noise before and said the fix was to lubricate the pads between the leaf springs. And would most likely have to repeat this. Suggested I should plan to re-lubricate at each oil change. What a bunch of cr_p. There is definitely some design fault in the leaf springs. They need to figure this out and replace the springs in these new "precision grade" trucks

Had mine into the dealership for this. They retourqued the bolts with weight off the springs and shot some white grease between the leafs at the ends not in the center. Creaking is gone for the time being but it now has a bad clunking when going over uneven terrain.

This is exactly what mine sounds like. Notice the clunking when driving very slow on terrain that causes body twist. It's definitely in the rear of the truck, haven't pinpointed it to the springs. Dealer cannot replicate. Let me know if you get a fix, mine is due to be in the shop in about a week for oil and this issue.

The grease and retourque WAS their fix. That's what they told me their TSB said to do so they have no interest in going further.

That's what the did to mine as well, haven't taken it back yet to see if they'll try something else. Squeaking is better but the clunking is bad enough the guys at work asked what that sounds was..

I guess if that's the kind of advertising GM wants other's to hear, that's what they'll get. I was all ready to upgrade to a 2015 double cab last week, but seeing that all these problems (vibrations, noisy springs, bad radios, rusted frames, etc) still exist, I've decided to pass, hold onto this a while longer and try some other brand.

I just had my 15 Denali in for this today. They greased the pads and made sure everything was tight. The noise is gone for now and I hope it stays gone. I certainly hope that I dont have to do this everytime I have an oil change. Ive owned a lot of different trucks and never had to grease leaf spring pads.

Can you point out exactly where they applied the grease? I tried a few spots and couldn't get rid of the sounds.

The grease was applied to the pads at the end of each leaf. You can see the grease so I know they did it. However, after initially being "fixed", the noise is back. Not happy. Now i get to find even more time to waste taking my truck back to the dealership to repair.....again.

Have a look at this thread. I'm still working with GM and the office of the CEO to correct this. They are watching this forum VERY closely for your posts about spring and shock noise and tell me often about other posts like yours here. Browse through this thread, especially the last 3 pages where I've posted some videos and comments around my GM back and forth...

I havent brought my truck in for it, but I have noticed it for quite a while on my 2015. My truck currently has 41K on it, and I can hear squeaking coming from it sounds like the passenger side rear. It is very intermittent. Sometimes does it over bumps, sometimes i hear it when the truck shifts. Sometimes just letting off the gas and getting back on it I notice it. Its pretty damn loud too.

If you hear it when you let off then get on the accelerator it might be the V4-to-V8 Exhaust Valve squeak:
