Front Valance Removal - MPG impact

I'm on the verge of removing the stock lower front valance off my truck. It's a joke how low it sits. Yesterday I rashed the corner of it on a street curb doing a 3 pt turn. What a joke. A relatives mid 2000's corolla was parked next to my truck. The corolla had more ground clearance in the front. Wondering what the MPG impact will be on the HWY.

I saw about a 1.5mpg difference on the hwy running between 74-78, but negligible if any around town. To me it's worth it.

I saw a noticeable difference on my 07' when I removed it. It only stayed off for about a month. I've thought about removing the one on the 14' but have not done so yet.

their main purpose is to create a low pressure area under the engine to help draw more air thru the radiator to help cooling.. unknown what effect it will have if removed.

^ No. Nothing to do with cooling. It has everything to do with high speed aerodynamics. I drive about 900 miles/week, all hwy. I'll do my own test. If I don't like the results, back on it goes. Looking at the F150's and Ram's they don't have such a low front end.

Around town there's no difference. On the interstate I saw a little difference but not really bad, maybe 1 mpg. Too me it was worth it. It looks much better and of gives more ground clearance, even just to crawl underneath.

By the way, it's not for cooling. It just directs the air for better mileage at high speeds.

I took the valance off my 98 Silverado that I had. With it already being leveled with the valance off it showed the suspension so it gave a more of an off-road look. Plus at the time I didn't have tow hooks and went to get pulled out of a hole and part of the valance was ripped off, so I went ahead and finished it by taking it off.

I may do mine over the weekend. Tired of it dragging in parking lots.

Been wanting to do mine. Looks so much better without it. Truck needs a detail...maybe this weekend.

Unknown? Right. Tons and tons of 900-series owners have pulled there and a good number have pulled it off the new trucks too. No cooling issues.

Front Valance pulled off yet?

I was thinking of removing mine for October and November while hunting. I've scraped it enough already to know it will be a problem over rocks and stumps on the trails. If my highway mileage gets affected, I'll put it back on after season.

I think it looks better off on Sierras. But removing it on Silverados just makes something look "off" (no pun intended). Maybe it's just me. :dunno:

Sierras look better without it. Silverado actually looks good with it imo. I can kill two birds with one stone by doing a level kit. Bilstein 5100 1" or 1.5" setteting. If i want more ill trim 1/2" or 1" off the valance. Im not doing any spacers.. I think this is the best of all worlds. Mpg. Looks. Finishness. Level.
