Silverado or Sierra...?

Hi,

I'm buying a 2014 truck: I like the new front of the Chevy Silverado but I'm a previous owner of a GMC Sierra.

For the same price, which would you consider to buy...?

- 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, 1500, LT, 4x2, Crew Cab, shortbox or

- 2014 GMC Sierra, 1500, SLE, 4x2, Crew Cab, shortbox

Personally, I like the Sierra front better, I think it will age better also. Chevy looks have grown on me a lot recently.

 

I have also read that GMC and Chevy pick their own interior materials for their SUVS now(so I assume trucks also, it was in MT initial reviews of the SUVs), and that GMC selected higher quality materials(hence the slightly higher prices).

No judgement, just my opinion.

The Silverado looks more "I mean businnes" to me than the Sierra. Can't even really explain why. Just my taste.

The Sierra is more the "player-ish" design. It's still a beautiful truck though.

I've always like the Chevy front ends better, at least with full size. I still like the Silverado better since it resembles the 86 I used to have. Also with the chrome trim around the headlights it looks like the grille surrounds the headlights like it did on my 98. Plus with Dodge, Ford and Toyota full size trucks all resembling each other with the grille sticking out past the headlights, the Sierra does that also so the Silverado looks different than the others.

If you can't decide between the two, is one dealer better than the other for after the sale support?

 

Either one will be a great choice! If I was in the same boat I am not sure which I would go with either at this point! I never have owned a Sierra, but I currently like both, with maybe a slight edge to the Chevy.

I am a bit turned off by the front end styling on the Sierra.. it just has a sort of.. unprofessional look to it.. for me personally it looks silly. I'd like to have the front end of the Silverado and the back end styling of the Sierra.

I like the more aerodynamic Sierra with the All Terrain grille. The Chevy at first was too square up front, but it's growing on me.

 

I still think Luster has the nicest looking truck on this site, and that is a Chevy.

 

The trim levels you posted pics of, the Sierra has painted door handles, mirror caps, and bedside moldings. It also has wheel arch moldings.The Chevy has black door handles, and mirror caps. No body side moldings or wheel arch moldings.

I may be in the minority, but I plan on keeping mine til the wheels fall off. I haven't had a truck payment in years, and the maintenance has been way less than half as much as the payment per month. Sure, a new truck would be sweet, but I have plenty of other things I throw my money into as well. To each their own of course. I ain't knocking anybody else's strategy.
