Wonder how they got that 7/10. In my opinion, a tire you look at it a little too hard and make a hole in it is not that great for off the road hehe,

With the exception of the little "All Terrain" symbol, I couldn't find anywhere on Goodyear's website that actually used the words "All Terrain" when referring to the SR-A tires. My 2015 Ram came with Goodyear SR-A 275/60R20 tires and my window sticker reads "All season tires".

SR-A's are NOT all-terrain. I don't care who says what about them. I had those on my previous truck when I bought it...absolutely the worst tires ever. I was constantly putting the truck in 4wd just to get around in the rain. The ONLY redeeming quality of those tires were they lasted about 48k miles and that was it. There is no way these tires rate as high as Goodyear says in my book.

 

So, anyway, rant over, you need to take your truck back and get your money or your tires. Don't back down either.

I think most people would agree that they are not "All Terrain" tires.

We are just discussing the fact that Goodyear says they are so GM says they are as well.

Edit: You might be able to convince a dealer to change them out but you won't convince GM that they are not "All Terrain" tires until you convince Goodyear first.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I only have 600 km's on the truck so there isn't really any wear on them so I'm going to insist on new All-Terrains or worst case a $250 refund.

 

Where in Sask are you from soltys? I'm in Saskatoon.

 

Adster - I'm also in Saskatoon. How you liking the SR-A in this weather. Yours are still new so they should still be OK. Mine were decent last year with only a couple thousand on the clock. This year, it's a little different story.

My Z-71 also has the SR-A's... I would like better winter traction... my only concern would be road noise... lots of A/T tires are considerably louder on the highway.

SR-A's and all other 4 ply tires are junk for me. I don't like the idea of popping a tire while I'm driving up a pass with temps below 0. Nearly 20k miles on my 10 ply tires with no flats. But I don't know any manufacturer that puts E range on their half tons.

 

As for the noise, mine aren't too loud, and you can always turn up the radio.

SRA's are okay for the spring and summer weather, no good for winter I just put on a set of Goodrich TA KO2's today mounted on my winter rims. I had them in the mud and light snow today already, night and day difference to the SRA's

SR-A's are also available in Load range E as well.

Honestly I think any increase in noise over the stock tires likely depends on the tread design and your tolerance to road noise. There are aggressive tread A/T tires out there that do throw off a lot of noise. There are also more moderate designs that were created to provide slightly more refined characteristics and provide a decent on road manners.

 

I just went to a set of LT Hankook A/T tires and was very pleasantly surprised that they were only very slightly more noisy than the SR-A's. I think the Cooper AT3's are pretty similar in design the ATM RF10's I have. Point being is that you should be able to find a tire that matches the characteristics that you would like.

My 2014 SLT had two options and one of them was a $200 upgrade to Goodyear Wranglers.

Unfortunately, you can't "try on" a few sets of tires and see how you like them for road noise, etc. I bought a set of BFG Rugged Trail ATs on my prior vehicle, thought they were great until I hit the highway and heard the droning road noise. Took the truck back to Discount Tire the following Monday and with a fair amount of persuasion I was able to switch out for an all season set of BFGs .

 

I usual read up all the reviews on tirerack.com , but it is still hard to tell what you are getting into.

I've run nothing but brigestone a/t's on my 05, 50/60k and I'm hard on tires constantly jackknifeing my trailer into driveway

My second mod after tint was to install Bilstein 5100's and Toyo AT2's

Much better looking tires and set off the truck well.

After 9K miles little signs of wear and handle good in the rain.

Have SRA's in storage should I sell/trade my truck.

Last August I picked up a 2014 Sierra SLT crewcab with a 5.3 I wanted no part of the Goodyear SR-a's, so I had the dealer swap them for a set of Michelin LTX M/S2's. They gave me $150. per tire and I paid the difference. Drove through Buffalo two weeks ago and the truck plowed in the snow like a real trooper.
