Is there any hope in fixing this?

I got the mother of all door dings the other day while christmas shopping.

 

The door hit mine and dented right on the crease of my door and up a couple inches from there. There are also scratch marks up my entire door and on my molding. Is there any hope in fixing this dent by paintless dent repair because it is on the worst part of the door?

 

This makes me so mad in many different ways... first off, why didn't GM put the molding a couple inches higher so that it would actually be useful instead of purely cosmetic? I also don't understand how people can be so ignorant with just swinging their doors around and not caring if they do any damage. I swear some people damage peoples new vehicles on purpose.

It might be worth while taking it to some who does PDR (Paintless Dent Removal)....they may be able to get the dent out or at least minimize it drastically without the need for major body work, etc. My father had a similar size dent on his Silverado in the same general area and the PDR process was able to take care of it. You couldnt even tell it was hit and I usually have a good eye for those things.

Sorry to hear that... that is worse then the windshield I lost. Truck is now 4 days old I just filed a claim for a factory windshield.

Geico approved the GM factory glass.

 

I would take it to a PDR and at least ask. I think they can make it better, but might have to drill a small hole on the inside.

I've got a friend that has done auto damage appraisals for years. He says much to his amazement the PDR folks can get even the most ugly of hail dents out of vehicles that look like someone took a baseball bat to them. Although it is in the crease of the door, that one for a good PDR person should be a piece of cake.

Pdr can fix that, as for the scratches the body shop might be able to buff them out.

Way to blame gm for door ding damage. Maybe wrap the truck in bubble wrap?

Unfortunately I didn't even realize the dent until I washed the truck. I will be taking it to a PDR guy in town and see what they can do. Will post pics if he's able to fix it up.

Look on yahoo for a pdr guy in your area. Read the reviews. Go with the best guy

Not wanting to highjack this thread but you lost a windshield in your 4 day old truck? How about a little more info?

I was in left lane about to pass a semi, another truck decided to fly around me on the right and cut between me and the semi.

In the process he through a rock that made a large chip in the window.

 

I was out of town traveling for the holidays. The closest parts store was 60 miles. By the time I got there to get a repair

kit the chip became a 4 inch crack directly in front of the driver. it is now a 6" crack.

 

I was under 400 miles, all of them put on during this one road trip from Denver to Salt Lake.

 

I don't follow to close and was way to the left trying to avoid any rocks from the semi...

stupid drivers.... no reason he needed to whip around me and break my window.

 

But is not GM's fault.

I had a dent in the same area on my rear door. Because of where the ding is at it is unlikely it can be 100% removed. The guy was able to improve mine by about 80% and you can't tell it's there.

I've been doing pdr for 16 years now and I'd say it's fixable ,do your research and find a good for guy with a few years under his belt. A new guy in the business can screw it up in a hurry. Post some pictures of the repair, check out my site for a few before and after pictures, www.dentdave.com

Doesn't look too bad, I have no experience in PDR but looks easily accessible by removing the door panel. This is also why I decide to get extra exercise and park far away.

There is no need to remove anything, most dent guys will either drill a hole in the door jam or use a glue pulling method.
