Heat always on?

Bought my 14 Sierra SLT all terrain about a week ago. I've noticed that my outside temp gauge is off. I've also noticed that there is always heat coming out of the vents, even with the AC and fan off, and on recirculate. It doesn't come out of the dash but hot air always blows under the dash, not a lot, just low heat. Could it be from my outside temp guage always reading low?

most cars seems to circulate something all the time even everything is off. Your heat working or not working in the cab is more dictated off the temp inside assuming you have the dual climate set up. I dont know how much the outside temp is off. How much are you talking, have you verified what the truck says vs a thermometer, even then whos to say your thermometer isnt off? I wouldnt think its uncommon for the truck to be a few degrees different than the thermometer you are holding, but if its a lot than the truck is broke or your themometer is broke. All the trucks with external temp readings I have had tend to take a couple of mins after pulling out of the garage to get a good reading.

its so annoying that with recirculate off the air blows in pretty strong at whatever temp you have set. i can turn my system to off, and if the temp is on HI it gets so hot I have to hit the recirculate button to make it stop.

Drives me nuts... I have no idea why in 2015 we cannot turn the freaking fan off.

I keep in at 50% temp split between floor and defrost.

Or I set it to vent, and close the vents.

Never had a truck move that much air when turned off.

I keep it on the defrost / floor too. I also hate it can't be completely stopped. Someone mentioned put it on auto and set to 75 was ambient in the cab. Makes it more bearable. This is my biggest complaint. The V I can hit recirculate and it stops. No cures in the Sierra.

I don't have climate control.

My 2000 Corvette does a wonderful job keeping the temps perfect.

So why does it not work in a 2015 truck?

I ask the same thing. Woulda thought it of been better, hence my biggest complaint about the truck so far.

My truck does the same thing as well, I really don't like how the HVAC module was setup and programmed so far.

its annoying to me also, I'm used to driving with my windows down and sunroof open, and not using the air. my wife hates riding with me.

my outside temp gauge is WAY off. every morning i get a "watch for icy roads" because the temp gauge is consistently 20 degrees lower that the actual outside temp. its weird because sometimes after driving it adjusts to the correct temp, but if i drive just a short period, maybe 10-15 minutes, its never adjusted. my grand cherokee took less than a minute to get to the right temp after driving. i need to take it to the dealer and have them look at it.

i wonder if thats why my heat is always on. i have the dual climate sync'd at 70.

all the other vehicles I've owned (lately), I set the temp; put it on "Auto"; it does it's thing.

Lots of air and heat (or cold) and over time the blower gets lower and lower until you can hardly hear it. Maintains the set temp!

Most every vehicle I've owned, I set the inside temp and leave it - like forever!

This one just keeps on blowing and blowing.

I can't believe a $50k vehicle can have such a crappy heater. (Heater and lights would be a game changer next time I replace this truck)

My 1996 BMW had way better climate control than this. That was 18 years ago!

My '15 SLE has no problem with turning off the fan completely. Did you guys push the power button in the middle of the rotary dial for fan speed?

The outside temperature reading needs some miles at certain minimum speed to display correctly. So, if the truck had been parked in a warmer garage, it would not display the correct air temperature until it had been driven a few miles.

Regarding HVAC on an E36, I had two '98 M3s (one coupe, one sedan). The HVAC on those were horrible even with a fresh cabin filter. The one in the K2XX would blow the ones in both E36s combined out of the water.

Havent noticed any issues with the HVAC on my 14. I just set it Auto and adjust the temp to my liking.

thats the thing, i don't want it on, period. i push the center button to turn it off, and the display on the radio even says, off. AC is off. but hot air still blows from under the dash.

tonight i drove 30 miles, the outside temp never got about 20, its currently 40 here. sensor must be bad.

I am pretty sure there isn't a power button on mine.

I will check in a few minutes. But you turn the fan speed dial all the way off to the O and it should be off.
