Remote Start Settings

I have a '14 Sierra SLT and I am not sure if I am missing something with the remote start settings. Is there a way to have the vehicle sense the temperature outside and adjust the fan and temp control accordingly when I start remotely? Currently it just turns on to the last setpoint.

My wife drives a '10 Acadia and it does this on its own.... Very nice that when its hot out and we remote start the vehicle, the fan is on high and blowing cold air. When we put the key on and turn to start it returns to the last setting from the previous time the vehicle was running.

Am I missing a setting in the truck somewhere???

Being an SLT I assume that it has the auto climate control?

DUAL ZONE AUTO (RPO CJ2) HVAC SETTINGS:

Built before the following break points:

12/17/2013 at Flint (11th Vin Position "F")

1/7/2014 at Ft Wayne (11th Vin Position "Z")

1/13/2014 at Silao (11th Vin Position "G")

1/21/14 at Arlington (11th Vin Position "R")

HVAC settings will remain set to the previous HVAC settings when the ignition was turned off. If the owner is requiring a certain HVAC setting during a remote start, they will need to adjust the mode, blower and temperature as required prior to turning the ignition off.

Important Note: The HVAC control module calibrations in TIS2WEB have been updated. If the HVAC control module is reprogrammed with the latest calibrations in TIS2WEB for any reason, the operation will change. After the HVAC module is reprogrammed, the HVAC settings during a RVS event will operate similar to vehicles built on or after the breakpoints listed above.

See description below:

For vehicles built on or after the breakpoints listed above:

Cold ambient temperature that is below 50°F (10°C):

Mode = Defrost

Temperature = 72°F (+/- 5°F) Example: If the owner had the temperature set to 80°F, the HVAC would be set to 77°F during a remote start. (72°+5°=77°)

Blower = Six bars

Recirculation = Fresh Air

A/C compressor = Only commanded on if conditions allow compressor engagement.

Hot ambient temperature that is above 59°F (15°C):

Mode = Last known settings

Temperature = 72°F (+/- 5°F) Example: If the owner had the temperate set to 80°F, the HVAC would be set to 77°F during a remote start. (72°+5°=77°)

Blower = Last known settings, unless the blower was in the "Off" position. In which case, the blower will be turned to the "Auto" setting.

Recirculation = Recirculation

A/C compressor = On

Mid ambient temperature that is anything between the cold and hot ambient temperature values:

Mode = Last known setting

Temperature = Last known setting(s)

Blower = Last known setting

Recirculation = Last known setting

A/C compressor = Last known setting

On transition to ignition on following an RVS event , the HVAC settings will return to last known settings.

I have this issue as well... so if I took delivery in Sept. 2013 would reprogramming or updating the computer fix this issue?

From the way that it reads, if the HVAC module is reprogrammed for an issue or any other reason, it will have the newest calibrations in it and will operate per the operation guide above. Otherwise, it has to be pre-set.

Unfortunately guys this is the way the system runs. The previous gen trucks 07-13 operated the way your wife's Acaida does. However GM decided to change this feature for the 14 trucks. It was one of my disappointments as well. Even a reflash/update is probably not going to fix this issue. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Ya my 05 HVAC system was better, 78 in winter, 65 in summer truck was always where I wanted it and defrosted bye the time I would get out after 15 mins, not the new ome

Depends when it was built (or last reprogrammed) according to post #2 above.

its last known setting, IMHO - because some people remote start in summer to blast the a/c a little

Wait so I can get my truck re-programmed to work this way? 11th vin position G, build date is 9/2013. Is there a TSB out that addresses this that I can show to the dealer?

What I'm getting at is the system no matter if it's reprogrammed or reflashed will still (according to post #2 above) revert to the "last known settings" for the remote start heating or cooling. This means you have to leave the system in the on or auto position for it to do anything when remote started. If your like me I turn everything to the off position when leaving my truck. A force of habit. When I remote start mine it reverts to the "last known setting" which was OFF in my case and does nothing no heat no cool till I get in the truck and turn the key. Now my last truck an 09 GMC Sierra when I remote started it no matter which way I left the HVAC system on, off, up, down, or sideways. It would sense the outside and/or inside temp and either turn the heat or A/C on full blast automatically. Now unfortunately we have to put up with the "last known settings" that GM so graciously programmed in for us. That is the reason why I said a reflash or reprogram will probably not work.

For some reason it won't let me quote and post a response...anywho...

If your truck were to be reprogrammed, it would perform as the details in post #2. Below 50 degrees it will do its own thing, above 59 degrees it will do its own thing, and between those two temps is the only time it will revert to the last known settings. Also,after turing the key to the on position after a remote start it will revert to last known.

the problem with this is at 30 degrees ambient, if the truck warms up to 80, it continues to go and go and go, because ambient is still cold. Its a stupid design.
