Brakes Insufficient?

Does anyone here feel that the brakes on their 6.2 14/15 could be better? I don't drive too aggressively but it seems that the brakes especially with the 20 inch wheels should be more in line with what's on the HD series. My opinion.

I just picked up a sierra on Satuday and I noticed that right away. There seems to be no feel with these brakes and they do indeed feel a little on the weak side.

Mine are perfect. Just as good as my 2007 that had front disc/rear drum. Is this your first GM truck? I can't comment on other manufacturers if that's what you're comparing it too.

Make sure you're sitting down when you look up the Wilwood Brakes, I just looked mine up and just front are over 2k!

I have 33" tires on mine and the brakes seem to take a small hit with the larger tires. not enough for me to buy $2k in a system... Try changing the fluid, after 30-40,000 Miles condensation builds up and can cause a squishy pedal.. Flush all the old fluid out and replace then bleed..

It's the same brakes on my half-ton 5.3l, I find them to be well-suited.

They are sufficent. I wouldn't say that they have enough feel/feedback for my tastes and this may be what you are feeling as lack of stopping power.

Coming from corvettes, the truck brakes are lacking, but honestly they are sufficient enough with 33s. Wilwood is certainly proud of their stuff, I just cant see it on a 4x4 mall crawling truck.

I feel that same way that they do not feel sufficient. Have I ever been able to not stop for something? No, but I do feel they are weak or that they have a strange setup where they feel like you aren't going to stop.

Compared to other trucks out there the 2014/2015 do have "spongy" brakes, and has been commented in various comparison videos/articles. However, it doesn't seem to affect overall brake performance since the overall brake distance equals or bests that of other trucks. In comparison my dads 2012 F150 Lariat has an amazing brake feel with tons of initial brake bite. Definitely feels like they apply more torque than the GMC ones do.

I would like to test drive someone who has the 6 piston Wilwoods to see how they compare vs stock. Brakes are an iffy modification since the "spongy" feel can actually be contributed by several different things beside the brake calipers. Weak brake lines, brake pads or brake master cylinder can all contribute to a weak pedal feel.

I don't feel any spngyness. Brakes are very firm and responsive. I know if you guys ask the dealer to check it out they'll probably say "its not throwing any codes and is operating as designed." I would see about test driving some other trucks for comparison because what you're describing doesn't sound right.

They are outstanding on my 2014 6.2L truck, they modulate very well and have excellent power.

The ones on my '14 are great. I almost gave myself whiplash for the first week until I got used to them and now they've broken in and still work great. I came from a 98 Silverado with sh*tty brakes no matter what I did to them so the ones on my '14 are awesome compared to my old 98. In the 98 the pedal went too far and felt spongy. Not sure if the rear drums was the reason or if there was something else wrong. I love that the rears on my '14 are also disc so I trust myself on doing a brake job. I never trusted myself with even changing brake shoes on drums because of all of the springs and pieces.

I think they operate quite well considering the weight of the vehicle. However, they could be improved. I don't know if I would drop 2K on the Wilwoods to get a slight improvement. I did that on my CTS-V and could only feel it at the track...not enough to make me do it again.
