Finally got mine installed, highest setting and used an autozone spring compressor with no issues. I had a 2 inch spacer on bottom with stock shocks before. Rides better now and feels much more controlled. The height doesn't seem much different from the eye test.

Been reading the comments and was curious if I could add a 1/4" spacer to the top of my Bilstein 5100"s for a total height of 2.38"... So I called Bilstein and their answer was no... it will void the warranty...Then I asked if I could keep them the stock setting and do a 2.25" lift kit on it...That would void the warranty on them also...! Needless to say I'm not very happy right now...

How are going to find out you stacked the shocks and level???

Have a 2.5 inch level kit with Bilstein 5100's set at stock height and no issues for me.

Multiple people have had negative comments on the ride when combining. Not saying all do though.

That said your right if you put a spacer on top there is no way they would know. Since it doesn't touch the shock no witness marks of any kind. Even bottom ones they wouldn't be able to tell.

I feel the 15 AT with 2.5 inch leveling kit and 5100's set to stock rides 20% firmer than the 14 AT with the 5100's set at max lift. However it's not a fair comparison because the 14 had Toyo AT2 tires and the 15 has the Toyo RTs.

The tech guy at Bilstein did say it would take up to 30k miles for any ill effects of the shock to show up...I think I'm going to go ahead with it but would like to hear from some others that have personally done the top spacer...

At max setting the 5100's raise the front end 1.85" right?

Finally got the front Bilsteins installed. Went pretty well except for the high dollar pos spring compressor from autozone. Had to go rent the cheap version from O'Reillys and that did the trick. I removed the rough country 2.5 level lift and installed the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks set on the max setting. Quick test drive felt good need some more miles on them to make a real determination on how the ride is, but so far so good. RC level /lift was 38.5". After the Bilstein 5100's 38.5". Now just need to get an alignment.

Since it previously had the Rough country 2.5 level/lift, I knew I wanted full extension.

I'm surprised you got the same height out of the bilsteins as the 2.5" RC. I have the 2.5" RC in mine now and have a pair of bilsteins, but wasn't sure what I was going to do as I do not want to lose any lift height, plus I need to clearance for my tires.

I just can't make myself install a shock upside down on my truck!!Bilstein should make the rear shock with boot on top.

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
