I feel your pain guys. I am super meticulous with my truck and equipment. I waxed the truck yesterday and found a paint chip on the right fender. I also had the truck at work on Friday and a dang bird pooped on the hood. I drove it back home and washed it. I waxed the truck yesterday and you guessed it, the clear coat is now etched in the same shape that the poop was.

This is completely redicolous to have paint this soft on a truck of all things! I'm legitamly concerned what this thing is going to look like in 10 yrs when i have paint like this after a year and 7700 miles! Between the paint, terrible Trans tuning, seat movement issues, etc, I'm becoming more and more disappointed in this truck. I expect better with a sticker price over 48k!

So it's not just me. Good lord. I have more scratches on my 3k mile sierra than on my 2007 Z4. This paint is ridiculously poor. Last GMC I ever buy.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I hand wash as well, same method I used on my Avalanche for several years, and after 1 year of owning this truck I have more scratches and scuffs than my Avalanche did and that thing was 13 or 14 years old when I sold it. I am not sure what else I can do to improve my technique, maybe add more grit guards in the bucket?! Sounds like it's just the nature of the paint.

Most people know how to properly wash a car, 2 bucket method with grit guards for the paint and a completely separate bucket with tools only used on wheels. What most don't quite realize is that you can do just as much damage improperly drying your car as you can washing it. I've been detailing for over 10 years. Use at the very least a good detail spray and spray it on the wet paint one panel at a time and use a damp (not wet, damp) quality microfiber to dry up 90% of the water and finish up with a very light buff with a super plush quality (dry) microfiber drying towel. Then just wring out the smaller damp towel and move on to the next panel. The best product is called hydrate by AMMO. The next best are hybrid v7 by chemical guys, spray on wax, and speed shine by griots garage. Any other tips or tricks you're interested in just hit me up
