2015 GMC Sierra Paint Problem

If you are disappointed, just take it to your local LineX dealer and linex over the rock guard.

They are going to color match the chip guard and blend it to the rest of the paint.

Brace yourself

You aren't making me sleep any better at night. If I didn't trust them to do a good job, truck wouldn't be there.

Lol, sorry don't mean to de a downer, I'm in a similar position, storm damage from before I got truck, they took care of it obviously, and have been great, but it was the hood and grill, it is winter here and every time I pick it up its been crappy out, backbonce for dull spots on curves of hood, then it got nice, hand washed her, over spray on frt bumper, and rear quarter, still haven't figured that out, waxed it Friday afternoon, u guessed it more overspray, and buff marks on from plastic pieces lol, next nice day I'll do it myself, maybe I'm just ocd,

I hear you there... I am very OCD. They will be taking my bumpers off to rock guard and paint them. The main reason I went this way instead of the whole sides, is because I was afraid that the finishes wouldn't match up. The factory paint has horrible orange peel and I know if they would have painted it, it would be different and would drive me insane.

Slammed a large trimming blade into the front of my white diamond tricoat the weekend I got my 2015... scratched the tint on the window but didn't leave a mark on the paint. No dings or anything after 2500 miles.

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali bought on Dec 1st 2015 and within 2 months my paint started coming off, after GM did a paint test on my truck they agreed the paint is faulty, GM wanted to paint my bumper and leave the rest of the panels to paint as they get worse. I refused to let them start painting on my new truck so on Friday a customer service rep contacted and said GM now says that the flaws in my truck are due to rock chip damage and now refusing to stand behind my truck! My truck stickers for $63,800 and it will be my last GM I ever buy!!

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra SLT CC All Terrain in Black, I purchased about 6 weeks ago and currently have 1600 miles.

I washed my truck over the weekend and noticing a lot of scratches that go beyond paint and clear coat.

Its been through the car wash at the dealer when I purchased it and hand washed since. I used a micro fiber hand mitt.

My question is, is the paint on the '15's that thin or is my truck that faulty?

I had an '05 Silverado for ten years and never had scratches like this on my Silverado.

Just looking for insight before taking it to dealer.

Many thin scratches appearing on my truck as well.

I just picked Up a 15 black 1500. The paint is horrible. Came swirled to shit. The dealer glazed The truck to cover Up Marks.

I detail cars. this paint is super soft! I polished The paint with a very light polish and a finishing pad.

I've seen paint flake off like that in body shops that do a POOR job prepping. Chevy should warrenty it

I'M puting clear vinyl wrap on The front part of The Hood and all lower body panel's.

If anybody wants it I can have my guys pre cut it all to your trucks body lines and ship it out. Not The cheapest stuff but worth it. Not horrible to install either. Just The Hood is a little tricky.

EPA excuse is bullshit. Mexico is our companies way of avoiding EPA.

If our trucks are built in Mexico by god they should have some thick-ass durable paint!

GM don't give a flip. Don't buy a GM product for the paint. It's ridiculously thin cause they are cutting cost all over these trucks. another early morning rant.

Except they aren't built in Mexico.

EPA / Water based paint is a BS excuse because it's been, what, 2006 since mandated water based? I had a 08 Sierra, 2011 Regal, and 14 Terrain before my 16 Sierra and the paint on all of those were tough as nails. I can't speak of personal ownership but my best friend has had three Acadias and my dad has had two and they are beat roughed up hard, but tough paint. My friend is big into car detailing like me and he's got no issues in the automated wash. Mine came out looking hazzy as ****. Something is for sure up with the truck paint process or cost cutting.

Hate to tell you it is not just GM. We've had Fords and several other brands that were new over the years. All of the paint on them was thin/soft and showed all sorts of wear and tear.

So far the wife Audi front end looks pristine, maybe it is because it was made in Germany but so far there are no noticeable paint chips from rocks on the front end of her car. Every paint shop I have spoke with over the years all says the same thing, water based paints suck. They don't offer the protection, durability and quality that the urethane products provide.

We had the front end on the wifes previous car (2011 Lincoln MKX) repainted last years before summer. It was 4 years old and looked like it had been shot with rock salt until the paint was dull. After having it all sanded down and repainted the paint looked great other than the expected chips from large stones.

Don't let your dealers refuse to not do anything about the paint! My dealer initially refused and said it was normal wear and tear.

I know what wear and tear looks like..but with 50 paint chips on the front bumper I refused to give up on the topic with only 15000 km's on my truck.

I sent a letter to GM Canada. Got in touch with a representative who helped me on the case.

Long story short, a week later i got a call saying GM will be painting my bumper under warranty! So don't give up if you have a paint issue. They have to cover it but like to be stubborn about it.

How did you get a hold a GM representative? I just had my truck into the dealer for them to do the "paint test" with the masking tape to see if it would peel off. They told me they needed to keep the truck for awhile to let the metal warm up to room temperature since it was -10 outside that day. I got a call later that day saying they did the test and the paint is fine, its just wear and tear. They did get me the 2016 corner bed protectors under warranty though. BUT when I picked my truck up from the dealer and then got home, I noticed that all the snow that was on the truck when I dropped it off was still on there (wheel wells, back bumper, and the topper) and none of it was melted off, like it would have done if they pulled it inside and let the vehicle warm up to proper temperature before performing the test. I called back and got a hold of the manager and he said they will talk with service and then get back to me. Still haven't heard anything back. Its been 4 days. I want to get in contact with corporate to get my truck repainted and complain to them about this. I have a bunch of chips in front of the rear wheel well, and all along the rocker panels the keep getting bigger. I thought I was smart when I bought the truck and put a clear bra over the whole front, but now chips are showing up in random places that they shouldn't be. And I am very pissed at the dealer for lying to me that they did the test properly and just brushed me off like that.
