Would You Buy Again?

I would buy again. I miss my 07. That truck was a beast. I took great care of it, but I def put her through the paces. The 15 is another animal. It's more refined, powerful, smoother. Now, I currently am not a fan of the nannies, but I plan to remedy that with a tune. The truck is a lot smoother and quiet. Quality feels like it's there and I'm happy with my purchase. I know at 2900 miles that this truck will be around and willing for years....until I can't hold back from a 2500 diesel that is. Anyway, I have a 7 yr old. He's expecting this truck as his first...I plan to make that happen!

There is hardly any aftermarket update/modification that will financially justify its "investment" and create an added value to the truck's (short term) resale value. It only creates an instant gratification to its owner and the "wow" factor.

For the most part, people finance their vehicles and our lending institutions and insurance companies go by the KBB scale. If a vehicle/truck is priced over its "market" value there is no way a bank would finance it nor an insurance company would cover it. A set of 22" after market rims will not add $3k to the truck's value, at least not the way our bankers look at it.

Back in the day small VW diesel cars (TDI) where very desirable and their market values were way out of the line with the KBB values. Some die hard diesel guys would pay cash and then they would get burned when such a vehicle gets totaled (as the insurance companies paid out the KBB values).

The only company that to a point covers cars at the "agreed" value is Hagerty; however they only insure collector grade cars that are not to be used for daily transportation.

So a $3k riced out car with $10k worth of mods on it is worth maybe $3k when it gets totaled...

I think some people realize it doesnt add value when they do it. But there isnt a guy that when he goes to sell his truck doesnt try and church up the fact that he has mods and his truck or vehicle is now worth more. but like you said In general a modfication specially of aftermarkets parts adds not even a penny to the retail value of a vehicle.

I wish I would have kept my 2011 Sierra Denali. That truck never seen the dealership once my new 2014 Sierra Denali been there 7 times and I have a new list of items typed up today for it to go back in for. I don't know if I got a lemon or what I almost need to book a weekly service plan as every time I get in the truck it is doing something it wasn't from the last drive.

1. Transmission flare up between shifts, periodically gets stuck in 4th gear on highway. Cant even try force it to shift in manual or letting off the accelerator. (Been in twice now)

2. Both heated seats don't work (Been in once for already)

3. Heating vent damper stuck on defrost

4. Screen froze on reverse stating rear vision system service, or periodically just black screen.

5. 4 x 4 got stuck in on position (Im sure this was good on drive system having drive on pavement back to city)

6. Slow opening tailgate mechanism shot

7. Lighting on heating cluster went out had to restart truck to reset it

8. Driver door at times whistles

Did the transfer case recall at times I have shut off the vehicle and I can here the transfer case actuator moving and the truck actually momentarily move slightly. Not sure if that actually got fixed or if might just role away. When I first bought also it had a misaligned tailgate they stated I bent with 900 km. After taking pictures of 12 other trucks on there lot with same issue?!?

Anyone else notice any these?

Yes, the list of issues our 2014 had would’ve made your head spin. What needs to be considered here and what everyone is overlooking is what engine, cab size, and factory your vehicles were assembled at. For instance our nightmare of truck was a 2014 completely loaded LTZ-Z71“and I mean everything” 5.3L, crew cab, assembled in Mexico. I see owners posting here with “no issues” but are they really comparing apples to apples? What engine, what cab, what plant, and what electronics packages do/did they have?
FYI- Just recently there's a pending auction for several GM assembly line robots located in Mexico. Coincidence?
General Motors is offering Fanuc P155 Robots Available for Immediate Sale.

I like stuff made in the USA specially my vehicles. But I think the Mexico thing might be overblown. As i worked in a GM plant, very little of the manufacturing process really has a lot of human touch, and the stuff that does is not complex or have a lot of variety in it. Usually its one guy tasked with one job. So that leads to, would GM really send sub par robots to Mexico and allow for crappy production processes? I really dont think so. Mass production is at its core is a simple process, one where you could take somebody off the street and in 10mins they could run a line. So if anything I think it may have to deal with quality control in terms of parts and compenents sub contracted by GM for, the design, and lastly what is ordered.

Oh, you mean all the GM Delphi parts that come from China, then assembled in Mexico.

Could be. I think some of the issues is we are victims of our own demise. These vehicles these days contain so many parts, and wires and this and that, I firmly beleive you have an issue with items gelling together at times.

Been a chevy guy for years but this 2014 is weak, new truck about every three years, so many small poor workmanship and poor programming problems on this 2014, seems like two trips to the dealer and on the second trip there is a service bulletin for the problem I am having. I will look at going back to Ford F150

I should of learned on my 1999 when they changed the body still and interior it had lots of bugs but not like this truck. I will never again buy the first year built on new style truck, will not by final assembly in Mexico truck and no more early builds

Right only made it another week to add to the 7 items on my list to be fixed. Four wheel went again this morning, stabilitrak, truck running like crap, and screens going out. 12 items next week to be looked at. Glad I spent 65 grand again to take my fisher price truck back to dealer once month. Wowwwww
