Has anyone tried the Range on a 2014/2015 truck? All the reviews that I've read on the internet are not good. Any first hand experiences?

That other thread is 9 pages long, most of which are from middle of 2014 and earlier. Not much updating or reports of long term use. I've looked into it as well as getting one of the tuners. Diablosport has the Intune available, Hypertech has not released the updates for 2015 model year yet. I'm going to wait it out. In the interim, I just run mine in M5 which completely disables AFM. Foretunately, mine only has the 3.08 ratio so running it in M5 is not bad at all, then I just switch it to M6 on the highway. Difference in fuel consumption for daily driving running it in M5/V8 mode vs Drive/AFM has been non-detectable, mostly I would assume due to the motor spending very little time in 6th gear or V4 mode at lower speeds on the hilly roads where I live.

So if it's not in V4 mode anyway, why to you need to prevent V4?

I guess that's the point. Only thing to gain would be full V8 firing at low rpms. Even with the 3.08 gears and .67 overdrive, I do think the 5.3L would cruise nicely down the road at 40-45 mph at just under 1000 rpm's, which is something that it occasionally tries to do in V4 mode then quickly shudders it's way out of and back into 6th gear/V8 mode or 5th gear/V8 mode.

I have had it in my 2014 since new. Works perfectly - just as advertised. I don't think my truck has ever been in V4 mode as long as I owned it. No noticeable change in gas mileage for me but I drive pretty mellow. Much more convenient than having to take the time to shit to M5 every start up, plus you get to use 6th gear as well.

I just ordered mine. Can anyone take a pic of it installed in the OBDII port? I want to see how far it sticks out and how noticeable.

Thanks

I just inherited one from my son and immediately sent it in for the software update to version 7.3 which fixes the codes some 2014 owners experienced. I've been running it for two weeks now and the truck really operates more smoothly. No more lunges and lags going around corners or as much hesitation when passing (still a little from the peddle action). But it now drives like a real V8! Gas mileage is about the same with my normal combined city / highway driving. I like it for a cross between AFM and a tune.

I Love mine ... no issues at all , had it on my 2014 since it had 1,100 miles on it .. now at 8,300 miles and no issues . makes truck run a lot smoother and tows a lot better without jerking in and out of V4 mode . A great investment at 189.00 !

I used it for a few months. kept giving me "low battery" warnings when I left it plugged in over long hours. ~6-8+ Hours. However, I think they resolved that issue with a new module.

You might want ask the Range folks to see if they fixed this. The latest update is 7.3. They have the release dates on their FAQ in case you are interested.

I bought a V.7 back in September. Worked great for about a month. Then it started draining the battery in under 48 hours. Next the computer freaked out and my transmission felt like it was slipping, engine running like shit the whole time. Almost lost my job twice due to being late. Randomly, the truck would glitch when I would try to start it. Service stabilitrack and brake warning messages constantly. I paid $180 for what was supposed to be the "final" version, version 7. Now I'm told I have to send it in on my dime to get upgraded to the final, finalized version. No thanks.

I sold the thing months ago. Went with a Blackbear tune. Much more happy with that.

I agree. ^^^^^ Go with an aftermarket tune of your choice (there are no shortages of opinions as to what tune you should choose, to be sure :) ). Have it disabled via the tune.

...not to mention you will have the benefit of much improved performance as well...and in my case, better mileage on top of that--- so long as you force yourself to keep from matting it every opportunity you have a chance just to have fun and because you can.... LOL
