Hello all -

I have the My Link 8" radio. My maximum startup volume does not seem to be working. No matter how low I adjust this, the radio does not seem to be using this setting. The radio will always startup on the volume that I last shut the truck off at.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Or can anyone shed some light on this... am I doing something wrong? (Build date is August 2014)

Thanks in advance :chevy:

I have a similar issue. My truck won't save the setting for HD Radio off. Is annoying.

I believe you are looking at it backwards. You set the Max volume you want. So if you shut the truck off with the volume cranked, the next time you start the truck it will be the volume you specified for the Max. If the volume is lower than your Max volume it will be at the lower volume.

I set my max volume to the lowest setting, and turn my truck off with the radio playing at half volume, when I turn the truck back on, it will be at half.

I'm pretty sure mine is working correctly. I have the max setting to about 20%. When I turn on the truck, the volume is relatively low. If I am jamming out at 50% when I shut the truck off and then come turn it back on, the volume is relatively low again.

make sure you remove the key and open and close drivers door to reset. if not it will turn back on as you left it.

^ Thanks! This did the trick.

Of note, I originally did try this, but I don't believe I initially did one of the two following things... First, I don't think I waited long enough for the radio to completely shut off (it stays on a little while after shutting doors). Second, I also didn't lock doors either during the first test. I doubt the latter had an effect, but still worth mentioning to anyone else that may encounter this situation.

Thanks again to everyone.

I've had good luck with mine. I've adjusted it a couple different levels and they all saved just fine. Mine is basically off now when I start it so I don't blast it to load with my son in the back.

Mine works like this. But as said, when testing make sure the radio is really off by removing key and opening the door.

As far as the HD radio setting staying off, there was a calibration that allowed this I believe, but you also have to remove any presets that were set using the HD channel number. TJAY74 knows more about this issue. After getting the latest calibration, my radio worked better so I left HD on. My truck is an early build (August 2013).

I've played w/ it a couple of times on my truck to no avail. My brother actually found the "page" in the menu where it was located.

I'll try locking the door & waiting long before the restart.

Currently I've set it (quite low) then had the radio playing @ about 50%. Turn the truck off, remove the key then open & close the door. Restart the truck & volume is @ 50%.

Well I think I've got it figured out. Today when I was out & about I found that the "setting" was much too low (about a quarter inch from the "-" side of the bar on the Maximum Startup Volume screen. I could barely hear the audio when I started the truck.

Tonight I did the following:

- set MSV to 1/3 of the bar

- return to "Radio" screen & cranked up the volume (2/3s of volume bar)

- turned truck off

- open & closed door

- locked door

- waited 30 seconds

- unlocked door

- open & closed door

- started truck

Audio volume was @ a normal level when radio came on

Something I found a couple of times after adjusting is that if you adjust the MSV level, but don't return to the Radio screen, the volume will be unchanged from the previous usage when you restart the truck.

Hmm. Having this issue with my 2021. I'll try last post info. But didn't have this issue with the 2015 high Country. Well see how it turns out..

Hit home button, go to sound, set to what I want max start up volume to be at then shut the <- arrow at the top left and NOT the X in the top right. Then hit the sound (or speaker on screen button) then shut truck off, open Dorr so every thing shuts off.  Wait a minute or so then should be good?

I'll try but feel like I've done this and hopefully don't have to keep messing around.
