Of course! The A/C is broken on my truck again and the parts are on back order so I've got a rental for the next few days. I couldn't believe that the slots in the cup holder were not sealed and needed to figure it out for myself. It's obvious that they are not sealed and I'm glad the op brought this to our attention.

I noticed this as well. I always keep napkins in the door for just this reason. I stuff a couple in the cup holder and sit my drink on top. It helps soak up condensation and minor spills. It is pretty unfortunate we have to resort to this.

Ya, I put coffee in my cup holder every morning and would be pissed if it spilled and drained into the center console like what happened to you. Best of luck getting it cleaned and thanks for posting about this.

So, knowing that these cup holders leak - how many are going to be proactive and are planning to use silicon rubber, or other method, to plug the leak holes. Or, how many are just going to leave things as is and hope for zero spills? I'm leaning to plug the holes - just not sure what method I will use. I seem to recall a cloth-like water proof material that comes in black and is super sticky - could cut a short piece for each hole, fold a crease in the piece and use some needle nose pliers to push it over each hole. Or do it the right way and take the cup holder apart as detailed above and do a fix.

It's a cup HOLDER not a cup. It's to hold the CUP not it's contents. The CUP holds the liquid, the HOLDER holds the cup. Simple.

I would like to fix it. The slots in the bottom are located where the rubber on the sides flexes to hold various cup sizes. I'm afraid to use silicone because it will bond the side to the bottom and the side will not flex as well for larger cups. I'd like to pop the cup holder out and remedy the back side but am unsure how to remove the cup holder.

The rubber part of the 3 cup holder can come out. Start at the back where the lid covers it and pull up. There is a tab at the center of that and there is one on each side by the intentions between the cup and lid. I pulled mine up and cut the tabs off. I can now take the rubber part in and out like the previous year models to clean it. I found the pictures where I posted this before. The red circles are where the tabs that hold it down are. Just pull it up and cut those off.

Now that you have it out, does it look like you can seal it from the back side? Also, how did it fit back in?

I just did mine. 2015 1500 Silverado. Just siliconed it from the underside. You can kinda see a little bead of silicone from the inside but not noticeable as I used black. Anyways no leaks. I left the tabs on and just pushed everything back. I can clean it now with just a rag and water. I don't really care too much about the different sizes of cups that might tear the silicone. I will just be carefull about that but not about spilling.

Not much. I have absolutely no trouble with reading comprehension.

Thank you very much for your astute observation, Jimmy.
