I'm completely torn weather or not to get an slt or Denali. I drove both back to back and could tell a slight difference in ride but I had to find it. And with the 6.2 could tell in acceleration the difference beween the 5.3 and 6.2. I just can't decide weather I want to give up the power for ease of customization probably put a lift on it later. I'm coming from a trailblazer ss so I like the quickness and hp that's why I want to keep the 6.2 but hard to find in an slt . Just looking for some guys random opinions. Help me out guys

I came fro the TBSS cousin, the 9-7x Aero. I do miss the easy of acceleration with the 6.0L 400hp and 4.10 gears. However, I am very happy with the 5.3 in the truck. If I had the extra 10k to upgrade to the 6.2 High Country, I would have, but I don't regret going with the 5.3 one bit.

If you can't find one you like then order it.

Where are you located? GMC dealer near St Louis has a couple in stock & a lot on order. 29 in all with a 6.2L. Just never know with them if they actually have taken delivery & NOT updated the website.

Worth the call if they have something you want & you are relatively close. http://www.laurabuickgmc.com/VehicleSearchResults?pageContext=VehicleSearch&search=new&bodyType=TRUCK&make=GMC&model=All&trim=All&stockOrVIN=&minPrice=-2147483648&maxPrice=2147483647&minMPG=-2147483648&maxMPG=2147483647&displacement=6.2

You would be very happy with the 6.2l and there's basically no difference in mpg

I saw today in a magazine that the 6.2 requires premium gas. Is this true?

I doubt you will miss out on any incentives. they only get better throughout the year. talk to your salesmen and see what he can do. do not buy a truck you are completely happy with b/c you will eventually regret it. if you are a car guy and know what you want and why you want it then get only that.

that is the route I took and was also worried about the incentives but my salesmen said that they only get better from month to month, so I ordered and he was right. I was able to get the exact truck I wanted and was built special for me. I plan to drive it until the wheels fall off or I need to get a 2500 diesel.

You also only need the Vin number to start paperwork. It might be possible to order truck and get this month's incentives still.

Yes the 6.2l does need premium.

I was in the same boat, I have easy access to E85. With that and a tune not much if any seat of the pants feel in the 5.3. I like the option of different fuel choices ( I pay 1.25-165) for E85 and the deal I got saved me thousands over the Denali.

Not to start another debate about what fuel is required for the 6.2l. But I'd asked my dealer which octane to use, which he responded that they use "low grade on theirs and never had any issues." Me personally, I'll stick the premium.

To continue with this story, number of years ago I only used premium in my vehicles. I got into a debate with my boss, who was fairly frugal and much wiser than my 22 year old "know it all" butt. After a few minutes of going back and forth, he pulls his calculator out and crunches some numbers on the difference in cost and annual miles driven. He looks at me and says "the amount of money I save by using the low grade, I can buy a new motor."

I went with the 6.2L Denali . It was the only one that had everything that I wanted. A vehicle is an expensive purchase. I just couldn't see spending this much money on something and not getting exactly what I wanted.

It wouldn't make much sense to spend extra money for a 6.2 then buy cheap gas to then have less power than a 5.3 through detuning of KR. Even the 5.3 benefits using higher grade gas though not recommended like the 6.2.

Have the old 6.2L in a 2013 gmt900. Have only purchased premium fuel for it & it does not get driven as much as most of you guys. Just rolled 11,000 miles yesterday at 2 years & 8 days of ownership.

Truck avg's 15.5 - 16 mpg for my normal driving year around.

So 11,000 miles divided by 24 months = 460 miles per month (rounded up).

460 divide by 15 mpg = 31 gallons per month (rounded up).

31 gallons x worst case $.45 cost difference above regular grade fuel = $14 per month more.

$14 x 24 months = $336.

Today the price difference on local fuel where I would purchase at is $.40 cents per gallon

according to gasbuddy.com. The avg difference around here between reg & premium has been

running in the $.30 $.35 range. Using $.35 cent cost difference drops the differential to $264 vs $336.

I know the above is not what the avg person drives, just throwing the numbers out there.
