I just started getting the same squak at 7500 miles, this is bs. Also my radio screen messes up from time to time. Going to bring it to the dealer but I'm sure I'll get no where with them. Also my paint is chipping and they say it's normal wear on the truck from stones, more chips in 2015 then I had in my 2012 which was 3 yrs old!

My brand new 2015 Sierra does this too! I called the dealership and they said, "that's just the truck, nothing we can or will do about it" ARE YOU SERIOUS? this is the first brand new vehicle I have ever bought and I paid a lot for it, and you are telling me you recognize that there is a problem and that you will do NOTHING about it? Come on GM do something about this!

For local driving, just drive around in M5 mode and it will lock out the V4/AFM mode and thus no more V4 to V8 flapper valve squeak. I finally just tried that this week and the shifts seem better too and less clunking.

So I just got a 2015 silverado with the 5.3 V8 in it.. I have 600 miles on it and have been noticing that whenever I give it a quick little tap of acceleration I hear this squeak noise. A quick little "squeak". I also notice it when I am coming to a stop and then hit the gas again theres this squeak. Also when I am turning and hit the gas I hear it. I do not think I am crazy, and it is not a very loud glass shattering squeak but it is there. Has anyone else had this issue or heard of it? Thanks!!

I have the squeak also.

2015 GMC Sierra SLT Double Cab

I have 2800 miles on my truck, and I love it...except for the squeak...thanks to these forums I identified the problem, wired up a solution to keep the flapper valve open, and no longer have the squeak. Called the dealer to see if this would cause any long term side effects, and he asked that I bring it in to take care of it...very nice and helpful on the phone...but tried to discredit the forum by stating that "you can't trust what you read on the forums"...but the forum correctly identified the problem (on the first try), provided a work around for testing, and proved to be the correct solution, is what I told him. I am sure that they deal with people all day long that read about problem "X", and it doesn't end up being the problem at all...However, I asked my service guy what else it could be now that I don't have a squeak...my appt with the service dept is in an hour...can't wait to hear what they have to say.

I am now on my 3rd exhaust (factory original, the a replacement, now this new one) being installed today. This has been an issue since 3,000 miles. On the first exhaust, I guess the flapper valve would actually remain shut, causing me to get horrible gas mileage as well. The second was only in about 2K miles before it started again. I'm at about 8K miles.

Stevelo and Scout,

What was the result of your exhaust system replacements? Any further issue with the chirp?

Hello everyone!

I have 2015 Chevy Suburban. 5.3L engine. Recently I faced with annoying thing while driving my truck. When the engine switches from V4 to V8 mode it makes some creaking, squeaking, some sort of short noise which looks like two pieces of metal have been hit of each other. It became very annoying because the engines switches the mode very offen in this year models. Every time the engine mode switches it makes that noise. It already made me feel like I drive horse coach but not brand new 2015 Chevy suburban. I just came to dealership and explained them everything. The guy already told me that it is normal that engine makes a noise. I told him that this is not the noise which is normal for usual engine working condition. I believe that vehicle value of which is about 65000$ shouldn't be working like that. If somebody have ever faced similar issue with their trucks please let me know what do you know about it. Relying only on dealership's mechanical knowledge is not very good experience. Any help from you will be much appreciated. Thanks

Had the same thing. My truck would squeal/chirp when it was in v4. Sound was completely random but would normally occur at lower rpm and would stop once back in v8. I recorded the sound and sent the clip to the dealership and they said it sounded like water in the exhaust???? I don't think so. At that point I already had the adapter valve pinned open which did not make a difference. I decided to replace the exhaust with aftermarket and not go to the dealership every week just to hear they could not replicate the issue. The new exhaust solved the problem.

I had the same squeak. Above 2000 rpms and when you get on the gas after coasting I get a chirp. I clamped it open and it went away like others said but I could hear the drone noise in v4. I will mention to dealer at first oil change. Also I noticed a small weep hole on the bottom of the muffler and the whole area is covered in black soot after 3,000 miles. Is that normal?

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.

    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
