In Channel or Stick on rain guards?

Anybody have EGR in channel rain guards? Are they any good? I bought my truck used and it has GMC tape on rain guards on the front windows. One was installed incorrectly, so I was thinking about replacing them with in channels, but I was reading reviews that the in channel guards can scratch the window or prevent the window auto-up from working correctly.

I also have Weathertech in-channels and have had them in for almost 1 year without any issues.

When I got my 98 Silverado back in '04 it had AVS stick ons on the front windows and I just kept them on there until one of them came unstuck. That's why I decided on in-channels. Plus in-channels are easily reversible. At least Weathertech since they don't use any double sided tape.

I am having issues with my rear door set. They are weathertech and they do not seat properly in the rear clips. The rain guard does not hold it slide out and when I try and push back in to the clips the top of the rain guard breaks.

On my 3rd set. The customer service is outstanding. The front pair are great with no issues.

Mine haven't given any problems. You have to seat the clips the right way or they won't slide in there right. Maybe you're doing it wrong or maybe one or more of the clips aren't right.

Have had my Weathertechs in since September when I bought the truck and have had zero issues with them. I will agree, however, that the clip system on the back windows *was* a bit of a pain to install.

If you can find a place to buy them that will install them for you, I'd highly recommend it.

I just installed a set I bought from my dealer....they were in channel and made by Lund. Perfect fit, not too tight, no clips.

WeatherTech is the way to go. I have had them on two trucks now with no issues. Install can be a pain on the rear windows but once they are in, you don't have to worry about them coming off.

Their stone/bug guard on the other hand is not so great. Not a fan of anything that relies on 3M tape in high wind situations (WeatherTech didn't do this on previous models)

My old 98 had AVS window visors that were the stick on type and after a few years one came undone and would be annoying when on the interstate so I just took them off. That's why I got in-channels one this one and also why I did my research before buying a bugshield which steered me away from Weathertech because of the tape. I didn't want a bugshield that used screws or 3M tape and the only one that I knew for sure was Stampede. I was a little worried that the little plastic push buttons that held it in place (just like ones used for the radiator shroud) that they would eventually become loose and the shield would slide but it's been a year and it hasn't moved one bit. All that's used is replacing some of the plastic buttons holding the weatherstripping on the front of the hood with longer ones. I like that both the bugshield and window visors are secure and can easily be reversed without knowing they were on.

How have they worked out/lasted for you? I just had another Weathertech rear window deflector pop loose and snap when I tried to reinstall it. I'm leaning Lund from your recomendation if you still agree?

I prefer the Wade Automotive brand in channel guards. I had them on my previous truck and now my new one. Zero issues with either. I like them because they go all the way down in the front, as opposed to stopping at the mirror.

I went with the AVS 'low profile' outside channel ones. Nice flat look. I'm not a big fan of the bubble looking in channel ones.

I've been extremely happy with the EGR ones on my 2015. I bought them directly from EGR but they are the company that supplies the OEM ones for the GM Accessories catalogs.
