2016 Changes (Headlights, tail lights, and bumper?)

I imagine the headlights and aluminum fenders will be all released at the same time as a refresh, most likely 2017. Reducing the front weight of these trucks will help the ride quality a lot in my opinion. Also every spy shot I have seen for any vehicle has been dead on exactly what comes out.

Unfortunately its not GM's fault, there is a push to have all trucks averaging 28.8mpg by 2016.

Yep, understood. Every automaker has to play nice with CAFE rules. I don't agree with it, but I understand.

Not so sure how keen I am for aluminum bodied trucks.

Pros: Lighter, doesn't rust.

Cons: Weak metal, easily dented. Expensive as hell. Aluminum bumpers sounds like a deathtrap.

Aluminum doesn't rust, but it does oxidize. So it's not immune to degrading…

They are supposed to get the 10 speed by 2017. GM and Ford developed the 10 speed together and Ford has announced it will be in the new Raptor. I assume the GM trucks will get the 10 speed to meet MPG requirements

I wonder if they will add paddles to the back off the steering wheel to change gears instead of keeping it on the shifter, I mean they would have to change where the volume controls are, but I feel with the many gears it would be easier to use.

Oh, YUCK. My main reason for not considering a Sierra was those absurd headlights. I love the LTZ headlights on my Silverado. I assume they must not have the same brightness problems plaguing the Sierra because I never once felt I couldn't see where I was going at night, and especially if I tap on the fog lamps.

You do realize the sierra and silverado use the exact same projector headlight modules right? If not I am going to have to LOL pretty loudly.

I should clear that up by saying my first comment was for aesthetics, not function.

My second comment about my experience was simply that I have no complaints, nor do I have an experience seeing the luminosity of the Sierra setup. Could be height, angle, depth, etc. differences*. I also have a second set of traditional reflector high beams which light up the road like daytime, which I think* the Sierra lacks.

* I don't own a Sierra, and never have seen one at night. I don't know.

not true. Sierras are bixenon projectors and silverados are low beam only.

I'm thinking obviously LED tail lights are coming. Hopefully they are a direct replacement for the 14-15 years.

I was thinking the same.. That would be nice!

I thought I read somewhere that they were in the process of designing an improved AFM system for the 16'-17 MY Trucks and SUVs, and that it would provide 15-20% better fuel economy than the current AFM system. I wish I could find that.

Everyone on here says they get better mileage without it, and I didn't believe it. I finally decided to turn it of and Ill be damned, I get 3l/100km better in the city and approx 1l/100km better on the highway. It seems I get better mileage on the highway when its windy now.
