2016 Changes (Headlights, tail lights, and bumper?)

I would imagine the 8spd is coming to the 5.3 either in 2016 or 2017. They tested it on the 6.2 first to work out the kinks because there aren't as many 6.2's and because if it can handle the power produced by that engine it will have no problem in a 5.3.

I hope they put the 8speed behind the 5.3. That way there's more people to complain about the transmission's confusion on its job in order to get GM to improve it. I don't expect them to fix it, as no longer believe they have the transmission expertise necessary. </rant>

2015 6.2l owners like yourself are in theory beta testers for the 8 spd.

Think you'll be able to retrofit the new headlights like the current ones? I know we havn't seen what it looks like but I really like the current sierra lights. I like how much you can customize the current lights.

I think the front fenders are going to Aluminum so the headlights may mount differently.

I never thought about that, makes sense why they're covered up in the spy shots.

I can't see why not, there isn't a set of lights out there that can't be customized.

Yeah the 2017's will be aluminum body. Though its just speculative right now it appears that 2017 is the change year.

Theres also some changes coming for the silverado, looks like it will be getting led bar type dtrl's like the sierra has.

Oh, YUCK. My main reason for not considering a Sierra was those absurd headlights. I love the LTZ headlights on my Silverado. I assume they must not have the same brightness problems plaguing the Sierra because I never once felt I couldn't see where I was going at night, and especially if I tap on the fog lamps.

EDIT: Gonna add in that like the cars, the trucks should have some sort of transmission tuning built into the vehicle for those of us who don't expect a truck to shift like a Lincoln Continental. Tow mode doesn't count. I shouldn't have to pull out my HP Tuner kit just to make my truck tolerable.

Meaning if you push the throttle a little bit it may drop down one gear, if you push it a bit more it may drop down two gears, but if you push it in between those two amounts it has to determine which gear it wants. With 8 speed it will most likely know which gear is a better choice.

See, I think of it like the 4-speed to 6-speed migration. The 4-speed ALWAYS knew what gear it wanted because it had very few options. The 6-speed has more options, along with mechanical differences and torque management makes the transmission feel like slush. Add two more gears and I'm shocked that 8-speed isn't just constantly trying to shift to maintain that smooth luxury feel and ultimate fuel economy. Two things I find completely unnecessary in a full-size pickup truck.

At least with a manual 6-speed, you choose to shift or not, and your left foot determines how smooth or rough the shift is.

Unfortunately its not GM's fault, there is a push to have all trucks averaging 28.8mpg by 2016.

Just read a press release that the 16s will also have apple car play. And if they do they'll probably have android auto too

you can never really trust these spy shots. For one dont you think GM has control over who an how they are taking these pictures, and how they are releasing them. often times on these testers they put wrong body parts on etc.

If in fact next year we are talking an aluminum body I would think GM would would probably do more a than refresh, so if this is true I cant see them spending a bunch of tme and money on the 16. headlights maybe.
