Double Cab Fuel Fill

My 2014 fills at full speed, no problem. Right to the top, too.

Take your truck in to have the EVAP system checked. This is a common issue with trucks that see alot of off road use. There is a vent that gets plugged and causes the issue. The oil field company I worked for had the vent relocated by the GM dealer to prevent this problem. In extreme cases we had fuel tanks collapse. The most common indicators were slow refueling and if left long enough you could hear a sucking sound when you took the gas cap off to fill with fuel.

My 2008 was difficult to fuel from day one. It was first thing I noticed when I had to fuel it across the street from the dealer after buying it. That was when the truck hadn't seen any road, let alone off-road. Over the years it seemed to get better. I always thought it could have been a kinked vent line, but never found a kink nor really looked hard for it.

My 2014 has been fine.

I have a 2014 crew cab and it takes fuel at full flow. I would agree that when the pump clicks off your not getting a whole lot more fuel in but to say not a penny more just isn't true. I can usually squeeze a few liters in but it takes time.

Well, I'm still having the same issue, and the truck goes in next Monday. I've checked the vent tubes and everything looks fine, no kinks and everything looks routed correctly so I'm suspecting the "fill limit vent valve" in the top of the tank. If it was just a couple bucks I wouldn't bother since that's normal but 10 bucks is a little excessive.

Do you have a 1500 or a 2500 HD? Mine is a 2500 HD

I have a 36 gallon tank and if I try to put another cent in it spits out. Your truck may be fine but mine will not take any more fuel when it clicks off.

Pull your nozzle out about an inch or two from filler tube to allow air flow. That may help.

Yep. I was gonna say this. Occasionally I will be at a station that will stop pumping after a few seconds. I just pull the nozzle back a few inches an it works like a charm every time.

one of the first things I tried when it initially did it. It doesn't matter where the nozzle is, it shuts off anyways regardless of the station. If its putting gas in, its gonna shut off multiple times in the top 1/4 of the tank. :(

Then I'd say the vent hose is clogged or pinched. Take a look underneath or take it to the dealer and explain whats going on.

Already had a look underneath, northing looks out of place. It goes into the dealer next Monday. Would have been this week but I just topped it up so I want it down a bit so they can duplicate it. There's only 2800KM on it so for something to be clogged, that would make me a little concerned but i'll find out and keep everyone posted.

Update: Finally got the fill issue fixed. The fill tube that is at the tank has a plastic insert in it. The insert that was in mine was not machined properly and was overly restrictive (could barely see through it when straightened.) Ordered a new hose and the insert is MUCH more open and I was finally able to fill my truck with ZERO issues for the first time since I got her! :). My truck is now, in my opinion, PERFECT!
