I've had about enough with this Sierra

When I first purchase my 2014 Sierra Z71 I was so happy and loved the truck. I put a billet grill in it, front level lift and 33" tires. I have received many of compliments about the looks of my truck. Now here comes the complaining part. The transmission acts funny makes clunks noises feels like it is not in the right gear at times, radio sucks, had to fix the seat with hose clamps, home link is worthless, leather on the steering wheel is messed up, popping noise in the dash that sounds like a rock hitting the windshield. Paint chips easy and the fuel door is half painted on the back side. I don't know if it is me but my leather seats fell hard as a rock not as soft as my 2012 Silverado. To make things worse the only GMC service depart in town sucks I think all they want to do is change oil and I'm not sure they care to do that. I test drove a 2015 Ford Lariat 4X4 and liked the truck but now I gun shy because I hate to buy another truck not know if I'm going from bad to worst or maybe it's just me and I needed to vent.

A tune will make the transmission feel a lot better, as well as make the engine stronger. The rest of your issues have been seen before.

After installing the level and new tires did you re-calibrate the speedo? And really if you don't like the truck then sell it and switch ships like you want.

Ford is having paint issues of their own... you can blame the epa for that... As far as buying a Ford, you're gambling on it. I've been lurking on their f150 forum and I've seen paint issues, uneven doors, frame rust, rear end failures, loss of power, infotainment centers blacking out, vibrations, and I'm sure I missed some.. Needless to say, they are having bugs w their new model too.

I was considering buying a 15 Ford when I was having issues with my truck and been following since..

Tundra is the way to go. I will be honest and say that truck is built like a rock. Sure it may gulp gas and the interior and exterior are not the most breathtaking.

But dam do they scoot and built like a tank

Sorry to here. I've had my '15 for 3 months, and love it.

Tranny shifts great (though I'm not used to the frequency - Trailblazer had a 4L60 4-speed). Radio is awesome (I have always felt GM did the best with the radios), and steering wheel leather is fine.

Seats in mine are fabric - but I think the are comfortable. Other issues are not present, either (mine is silver...GM had white paint issues in the past).

I had looked at a 2014 F150 STX 5.0L. It was nice, but ended up with the GMC. I have always been a GM guy. Now, one reason I deterred from the Ford was rust/paint. I looked at 2 different 2012's and the bumpers, tailgate, and bed were all rusting heavily at 40K miles. Very disappointing for a truck that was $30K used. Coworker has a beautiful F150 EcoBoost - he loves it, but has issues too (brakes, minor dislikes with radio/controls).

Good God, I thought I was the only one experiencing this problem. It drives me absolutely nuts when I hear that noise.

I'd call GM directly to complain about your dealer and your problems. I've read of other members on here getting partial tranny rebuilds and such. My seats have been fine since their first rebuild at the dealer. Make them do it again. What's wrong with your HomeLink? Mine works great. Make them replace it. And new leather on your steering wheel is cheaper than a new truck.

Don't completely blame GM if your dealer sucks. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Same issues here. Beleive it or not im on service visit 16 .

The clunking at low speed driving is horendous. The confused tranmission tune was made for a pinto. It sux!

Seat has been fixed updated 3 times now

Streering rack/ steering gear has been replaced 5 times now

A glute of issues with the backup camera, XM , freezing moniter , not recongnizing Iphone .

The sunroon was replaced , then the headler, then sunroof brackets again . Then a new headliner cause 3rd brake light leaked water . I can live with the creeks , moans and rattles after all this is GM were talking about here. They are king of shitty put together interiors. But the drivability has gone to shit. I mean this thing bucks and forth so much one would think it has a cam .

Im not kidding you when I say 16 visits , its been painful only because overall I like the looks and power of this truck. Mechanically its been utter garbage.

Like I have said before Im 110% confident I will get all my money back , so at this point Im driving the truck on GM untill I have time to get my Lemon case started.

Funny thing is after the 10th visit I asked GM for a buy back and they came back and offered a 1 month credit ...lol..these guys are clowns , so now they get to pay me back every dime I have paid on the POS they sold me and deal with the BBB. Once BBB gets GM to buy the POS back , I was dead set on a GM truck but now have my doubts. ( yes, I also drove the New F150 and everything but the looks I love)

I have owned four GMC trucks and one Tahoe in the past ten years. I have always been loyal to GM I love the looks of my truck but hate the problems. Don't get me wrong every manufacture has some type of issues. As far as looks my truck is one sharp truck but the quality sucks I do know not all people are having these problems some are having no problems and some are having worse problems with their truck than mine. As far as contacting GM I have they dealt with the dealership on the radio update that the dealership would not do. The rep with GM had such a hard time dealing with them she kept apologizing for their customer service. She told me she has never had to deal with a dealership like this and was going to log a complaint on just her dealings with them. She did give me a year of onstar and a $500.00 voucher for GM merchandise or accessories for the inconvenience of having to deal with the service dept. The sad part was they would not honor the voucher I had to go to a chevy dealership to by GMC accessories.

GM's funny in their relationships with dealers. When the '08 crash hit, they closed a lot of their dealerships. Weird thing is, they closed a lot of the better dealerships. Then they announce that they want Cadillac dealerships to be separate and special, so that the Cadillac buyers feel they are getting a premium experience over the Chevy buyers. But they create incentives and conditions so that dealerships expand into 4-brand GMC/Buick/Chevy/Cadillac dealers under one roof. And I complained in another thread about their not allowing GMC warranty service at Chevy dealerships (pre-bailout, anyhow).

I bet your GM rep files a complaint like she says she will, nothing will come of it, and the dealer will be rewarded for some other reason. And the dealer's behavior won't change.
