2016 half tons

Got to have a good look as well as sit in the new 2016 Chevy and GMC half tons today.

Glad GM put the phone center console charger in the trucks, I loved seeing it in the GM full size SUV's when they came out in 2014.

Not happy to see the hood and lower grill openings are fake in the new trucks, I figured since GM added the openings they were for function but now I am thinking they are for the 2017 GM HD trucks.

The "new" power running boards on the Danali and guessing on the High Country are awesome! They are the regular 6in. chrome boards but they somewhat tuck up under the truck yet they drop and extend down like you would expect BUT the cool part is there is a button on the rear of them and they will extend to the rear so you can step into the bed. So they swing about 3ft backwards, super cool!!! I have not seen this discussed or shown anywhere and was not expecting this.

There were probably 20 new 2016 1/2ton GM trucks at the state fair of Texas, pretty impressive, GM put on a hell of a show.

Any rear seat ac vents behind the console so the debate people are having can end?

I hope to make it to the fair this year, weather has been perfect lately, it has been a few years for me.

Zero rear HVAC vents, just the same rear seat heaters (joke for cooled seats that blow heat into passengers faces).

It is a damn shame there are no rear vents, might be what drives me to the Ford for the next truck as the Texas heat is brutal and I don't like my kids and dog to burn to death.

The "new" power running boards on the Danali and guessing on the High Country are awesome! They are the regular 6in. chrome boards but they somewhat tuck up under the truck yet they drop and extend down like you would expect BUT the cool part is there is a button on the rear of them and they will extend to the rear so you can step into the bed. So they swing about 3ft backwards, super cool!!! I have not seen this discussed or shown anywhere and was not expecting this.

Hope they offer a DELETE option, they do with the current standard Denali Steps. The power boards will not be a desired option in the snow belt.

I all but positive that the power boards will be a upgrade over the standard boards even on the Danali.

I thought I read that they were standard on the Denali and HighCountry and optional on the SLT/LTZ? Anyway, there's a delete option now, so I assume there will be a delete option for these as well.

The press releases and GM websites talk about the power running boards and how they move backwards so you can step on them to reach into the bed. Here is my question:

Since the boards extend when you open a door, does that mean you need to open a door first, wait for the boards to extend, then hit the button on the end of the board to make them move toward the rear of the truck?

Yes, that is exactly how they work. Very smooth, very slick.

These do NOT tuck up tight against the cab and I do not see as many problems as other power running boards in the snow/ice/salt/sand. Not saying there are not going to be issues but am saying I don't think you will see as many issues.

I do not think you will see these be the standard steps, just like on the Yukon Danali they will be a optional upgrade with the standard steps coming unless deleted.

Does anyone know what this option price is? and if they will be an OEM fit on the 14-15 trucks?

BVQ Assist steps, chromed tubular, 6" rectangular (factory installed)
1 - May delete (BVQ) and add (BRS) power assist step or LPO assist steps (VXJ) by selecting (R8M) BVQ assist step delete.

On my 2015 is was a $700 credit to delete BVQ and add VXY was $685.
